Yahoo DFS Winners for the NFL Week 5 Main Slate

Week 4 is over and all we can say is thank god. This is one of those weeks that you have to admit that maybe the best man didn’t win. There were several players that went off in awful matchups, and even more players that were total busts in feast spots.

We do not want to name names, but Keenan Allen, Patrick Mahomes, and just about all of the Chiefs receivers did nothing to help our Yahoo lineups. This is why we love daily fantasy though.

Week 4 is over… let’s run it back for this 13 game Week 5 slate on Yahoo DFS.

We are breaking down matchups and putting together our week 5 player pool. The Yahoo article should be complete and punished by Wednesday morning. We will publish our Yahoo DFS podcast across all platforms Thursday afternoon.

QB Pick | RB Picks | WR Picks | TE Pick | FLEX Pick | DEF Pick

I’m choosing to pay up for a solid core this week which includes Christian McCaffrey, Austin Ekeler, Keenan Allen and New England’s defense. I built around that core with what I think are good matchups and trends that will continue.

Yahoo NFL Week 5 QB

joe flacco yahoo nfl week 5

Joe Flacco

QB | Denver Broncos | Yahoo Salary: $22
While I’m not exactly thrilled with playing Joe Flacco in any matchup, the longtime Raven has been trending in right right direction and is coming off from a solid game against the Jaguars. Flacco in-fact had his best game as a Bronco in week 4, throwing for just over 300 yards and connecting for 3 touchdowns. Flacco faces a defense in the Chargers that doesn’t exactly strike fear into opposing QB’s. Additionally, Flacco’s offensive line held their own against a Jags defense that tallied 13 total sacks going into week 4. My goal with Flacco was to go as low as I could in terms of price. At $22, I believe Flacco is the cheapest option that meets and or exceeds value in week 5.

Yahoo NFL Week 5 RB’s

christian mccaffrey yahoo nfl week 5

Christian McCaffrey

RB | Carolina Panthers | Yahoo Salary: $38
Christian McCaffrey is a player that essentially doesn’t require a tremendous matchup to start. However, as the Carolina passing game continues to struggle, Christian will be relied on even heavier to produce.

austin ekeler yahoo nfl week 5

Austin Ekeler

RB | Los Angeles Chargers | Yahoo Salary: $26
Melvin Gordon is returning to the Chargers this week. However, Ekeler has been racking up stat lines that place him in the top 5 RB’s in the league. I believe the Chargers know they have something special with Ekeler and have no reason to drastically change things in week 5, regardless of the phenom that is Gordon. Additionally, this is a play on the potential ownership decrease of an Ekeler all-star based on the hype of a Gordon return.

Yahoo NFL Week 5 WR’s

keenan allen yahoo nfl week 5

Keenan Allen

WR | Los Angeles Chargers | Yahoo Salary: $36
Keenan Allen’s targets, yards and touchdowns continue to increase due to the fact that the Chargers wideout depth is extremely limited. While you have to pay a pretty penny to land Keenan, a matchup against Denver is extremely favorable.

courtland sutton yahoo nfl week 5

Coutland Sutton

WR | Denver Broncos | Yahoo Salary: $16
Coutland Sutton finally connected with Bronco QB Joe Flacco in week 4. While he very could fall off the radar in week 5, at $16, a stack play and the matchup, I like Sutton to find the end-zone again this week.

diontae johnson yahoo nfl week 5

Diontae Johnson

WR | Pittsburgh Steelers | Yahoo Salary: $12
Diontae Johnson is my sleeper wr of the week. Diontae is a rookie out of Toldeo who the Steelers took in the 3rd round of the 2019 NFL draft. Everything has changed with Big Ben’s absence and out of that chaos, a Mason Rudolph to Diontae Johnson connection has been established. Mason has a home field advantage against rival Ravens in week 5. Diontae is averaging 6 targets since Mason took the helm and is developing a familiarization of the end-zone. Also, the Ravens defense isn’t even close to what it used to be.

Yahoo NFL Week 5 TE

jimmy graham yahoo nfl week 5

Jimmy Graham

TE | Green Bay Packers | Yahoo Salary: $13
Okay, I obviously don’t feel great about this pick. However, searching for value at TE is probably the most difficult position on the board. At $13, and with Graham off to a decent start, I’m simply betting that Graham and the Packers have a better showing than Witten and the Cowboys (who’ve had an absolute cupcake schedule thus far).

Yahoo NFL Week 5 FLEX

curtis samuel yahoo nfl week 5

Curtis Samuel

FLEX | Carolina Panthers | Yahoo Salary: $15
This could very well be a late swap. There’s very little on the board this week at the $15 mark. However, out of all of them, Samuel is the sole option that is at least somewhat intriguing. Kyle Allen got torn apart against a touch Houston defensive front. However, this week he faces a Jaguars squad who gave up plenty of fantasy value to Flacco in week 4. Samuel or Moore are complete gambles this week.

Yahoo NFL Week 5 DEF

patriots defense yahoo nfl week 5

New England Patriots

DEF | Yahoo Salary: $22
The New England Patriots have only allowed a total of 15 points through 4 games this year. They have combined for 18 sacks, 10 interceptions, 1 blocked kick and 3 touchdowns thus far. I don’t love the fact that a defense plays such a large roll in this years fantasy lineups, however, there’s no escaping it. Oh yea, they’re playing the Washington Redskins this week… It’s going to get silly…
