NBA Thursday Betting Preview: 2 Player Props and Best Bet for January 30

There’s an angle with the Atlanta Hawks with Jalen Johnson and Kobe Bufkin both out for the season. With Quin Snyder’s guard-whispering skills and the Hawks’ heavy underdogs against Cleveland, expect Dyson Daniels to score in chunks against a smaller backcourt, while the Cavs maintain a large lead all night.

Out West, the Minnesota Timberwolves are finally hitting their stride and tonight, Anthony Edwards will put the team on his shoulders for their 5th win on the road in Utah.

G Dyson Daniels (ATL) OVER 13.5 Points

With Atlanta Hawks star forward Jalen Johnson out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury, the rest of the starting lineup should see a boost in scoring opportunity.

For Atlanta to see any sort of playoff action in 2025, it will be up to Dyson Daniels to take the next leap as a scorer and due to his past history with developing guards, I trust Quin Snyder to give DD more opportunity post Johnson injury.

Although Daniels is technically the starting 2-guard for Atlanta, I am giving him the offensive edge in the paint over Mitchell and Garland due to his size.

G Anthony Edwards (MIN) OVER 3.5 3PM

After winning his sixth straight game against my lowly Phoenix Suns, Anthony Edwards and the Wolves should be able to take this momentum into Utah, where I think we could be witnessing one of Ant’s scoring outbursts.

After scoring 33 and 34 points in two of his last three games, Edwards away against a soft defensive team in Utah is the perfect matchup. Utah gives up the 3rd most PPG to the shooting guard spot and Ant has scored 31/31/31/32 against the Jazz over their last four matchups.

With Vegas setting this spread inside ten points, I believe Edwards will score 35+ and light it up from beyond the arc in a win.

Best Bet: Cleveland Cavaliers (-10) over Atlanta Hawks

With Jalen Johnson down for the season, Atlanta will struggle mightily on both ends of the floor. The Hawks have lost six straight games and with Quin Snyder scrapping lineups together, it will be extremely difficult to compete against the Cavs, especially with their defense allowing 106 and 91 points in the last two games.

Even if Atlanta keeps the 1st quarter close, this looks to be a blowout and with Trae Young day-to-day, I’d play this number to -13 for Cleveland.
