We’re approaching the final quarter of the NBA season as playoff races are heating up, along with the tank in full effect for some teams. We’ll take a look at Monday’s 8-game slate and look to find some value on the board.
The Lakers welcome the Hawks to Los Angeles tonight in hopes of stopping their two-game losing streak from getting any further. I’m looking at Anthony Davis in this one, who’s been playing tremendously before getting poked in the eye on Saturday night against the Warriors.
Early reports indicate that Davis should be available for tonight’s matchup against the Hawks. Lakers fans should rejoice in what will likely be a tremendous matchup for Anthony Davis, going up against one of the league’s worst rebounding teams.
The Hawks rank 28th in the league in dTRG and 24th in DRB% and look to be overmatched by Anthony Davis’ size and touch. We’ve started to see Lebron James take more control of this Lakers team as the season is winding down and his assist numbers have ticked up in March.
Davis and Lebron should have no problems getting whatever they want out of a pick-and-roll set. I’m looking at Davis’ Points+Rebounds number sitting at 38.5 (-104) at FD, while the rest of the market has moved the line to 38.5 (-111). Both numbers are viable tonight as Davis should be in line to produce one of his more impressive stat lines of the season tonight against the Hawks.
The Grizzlies are in complete disarray and are just trying to see what they have at this point in a lost season. The Grizzlies are the league’s worst offense in terms of oRTG and severely struggle to produce offense without a traditional point guard in the active lineup.
Luke Kennard and Desmond Bane have served as the lead guard in very forward-centric lineups for the Grizzlies. Luke Kennard is currently listed as out for personal reasons on the injury report for tonight’s game and I don’t think the books have properly adjusted the other player’s totals.
With Desmond Bane returning to the lineup and serving as the only true guard for the Grizzlies, I expect him to have the ball in his hands quite a bit in tonight’s matchup against the Kings. I like Bane to go over his points and assists number of 28.5 (-106) which you can find at FanDuel.
Bane cleared this number on Saturday night against Oklahoma City in a game that Luke Kennard was available in. We’ll likely see a spike in usage for Bane, resulting in a similar if not higher output, especially as the Kings lack a premier wing defender to stop Bane.
My only true concern here is that the Grizzlies won’t remain competitive enough against a playoff team in the Kings, for Bane to get his full complement of minutes. That being said, the Grizzlies don’t have anyone else to turn to so I expect Bane to continue to rack up the counting stats in what will likely result in a losing effort for Memphis.
