The Valero Texas Open tees off this week at TPC San Antonio’s Oaks Course, and with tight fairways, unpredictable winds, and firm greens, it’s a track that can cause headaches for the field. In DFS and prop betting, nailing your “To Make the Cut” plays is all about targeting consistent ball strikers who avoid big numbers and can grind through tough conditions.
With the Masters looming, some players will be locked in, while others may just be tuning up—so finding value on Underdog Fantasy means identifying high-floor golfers who thrive in strokes gained: approach, bogey avoidance, and scrambling.
Let’s break down the best picks to survive the cut line and keep your DFS entry alive heading into the weekend.
Fleetwood is possibly the best player in this field, and yes Ludvig Aberg is in this field. Right now, I would take Fleetwood over Aberg in a H2H matchup, and I do believe they have a matchup on Sportsbooks where Fleetwood is +110, I would take that!
Fleetwood had T7 here last year and has made 15 straight cuts, with 15 Top 22 finishes to go with it!
Keegan has been a monster lately and I debated taking his Top 30 this week, but every time I take his finishing position he decides to not play well! I do however love him to make the cut this week.
He has 13 straight made cuts, 9 of those have been inside the Top 22. In 6 trips here, he has made the cut in 5 of them, hitting 3 straight Top 45 finishes.
Bud Cauley is someone most casual golf fans do not know, but you better get used to hearing his name. I am taking a little longer shot here, rather than taking someone like Aberg or Matsuyama as the payout just isn’t good enough.
Cauley is coming off back-to-back Top 6 finishes. He was cut the event prior to those two but has made the cut in 7 of his last 8 events. He also had a T39 here last year and has made the cut here in 4 of his 6 trips, all of them inside the Top 40 when he makes the cut!
