Fantasy owners lucky enough to still have their quarterback may wish he was injured as poorly as most quarterbacks have fared through three weeks. Only 10 quarterbacks have thrown for more than 230 yards on average this season.
The NFL’s top four performers thus far – Josh Allen, Sam Darnold, Jayden Daniels, and Lamar Jackson – are all below the 220-yard average mark in three games. Allen and Darnold have combined for 15 throwing touchdowns while Daniels and Jackson are dual-threat quarterbacks.
Are there better options at quarterback that fantasy owners should explore if you don’t have one of those top four performers? Yes. Just don’t look at Las Vegas, Tennessee, or Cleveland for answers. Their real-life owners are looking for quality starters, too.
After suffering a high-ankle sprain, the Los Angeles Chargers will extremely limit quarterback Justin Herbert in practices this week with hopes he can play against the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend.
Fantasy Impact: Without starting lineman Joe Alt, Herbert will have backups between him and the aggressive Chiefs defense. Even if he does play, there are better options to start at quarterback than Herbert in Week 4.
The Philadelphia Eagles could be without one of their star wide receivers as DeVonta Smith – who suffered a concussion in Week 3 – was not at practice on Wednesday. The concussion protocol could keep him out of Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Fantasy Impact: Smith has been Hurts’ go-to guy with A.J. Brown (hamstring) absent since his Week 1 injury. Now, look for tight end Dallas Goedert and running back Saquon Barkley to play an even bigger role in offense if both Brown and Smith cannot suit up.
After Pittsburgh earned their third victory on Sunday, news of Jaylen Warren (knee) and Najee Harris (shoulder) made headlines in Pittsburgh. Harris was seen wearing a sling for his arm while Warren had an MRI on Monday to rule out significant injury.
Fantasy Impact: If either of these backs cannot go, fantasy owners should pick up Cordarrelle Patterson. The running back could be in line for serious usage in a run-heavy offense the Steelers employ.
After catching both of his targets for 36 yards, Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta was injured during the game. LaPorta’s results of an MRI were negative, and the team revealed it was a low ankle sprain
Fantasy Impact: LaPorta is one of the most dynamic tight ends in the league. Despite that, the player has yet to catch a touchdown this season and has only 94 total receiving yards on eight receptions through Week 3. Monitor his progress but consider sitting him if you have better options available.
