Tonight’s showdown in Cali should be fun! We get the Harbaugh Bowl taking center stage, as the Chargers welcome the Ravens to Los Angeles. These are two good teams, so anything could happen tonight!
Theoretically, this should be Ravens all day, but we know how the NFL can be sometimes, and teams can pull wins out of anywhere. I expect Lamar Jackson to move the ball on this defense as the Chargers have played the softest schedule in the NFL so far. Okay, enough rambling, let’s get to my bonus prop for Monday Night Football.
The Chargers and Justin Herbert rank 5th in the NFL in 1st quarter passing yards. Of all the full time starters he ranks 2nd in 1st quarter passing yards per attempt. 2nd to his opponent tonight Lamar Jackson. It is safe to say these are the top 2 teams that like to take early shots down the field.
Herbert also ranks #1 in 1st quarter passer rating, and has 9 passing plays of 20+ or more in the 1st quarter. Ladd McConkey has given this offense a punch it desperately needed. In the 1st quarter, McConkey ranks 11th in the NFL with 15 1st quarter targets.
McConkey has cashed this line in 6 of his last 9 games and 6 of 10 games overall. He has also cashed this in 3 of his 5 home starts, and 3 of his last 4 overall. He is only averaging 1.5 targets in the 1st quarter, and has 1 or less in 6 of them, cashing 3 of his 4 games with 1 target.
Baltimore’s pass defense is very stout against the run, ranking #2 in rushing yards per game. On the flip side, they rank dead last in passing yards allowed per game. I know Harbaugh will want to establish the run, but against this defense, I expect Herbert to be in attack mode early.
McConkey should be able to attack these linebackers and the middle of the field. I also think if Humphreys or Stephens take on his assignment, he can find a step on them. McConkey has 6+ receptions in 4 of his 5 home games, I expect him to eat today and all he needs is 1!
My Best Bet:
Ladd McConkey (LAC) 10+ 1st Quarter Receiving Yards (-106) Fanduel
