Lions at Cowboys: Our Best Bets for Saturday, December 30

NFL Week 17 blesses all fans and bettors with a primetime matchup on Saturday, December 30. The game will feature two soon-to-be playoff teams in Detroit and Dallas. Will the Cowboys finally get right at home after a couple of road losses? Check out our best bets below!

Detroit Lions @ Dallas Cowboys -5.5

The Lions defeated Minnesota last week and clinched the division for the 1st time in 30 years. They have won 6 of their last 8 behind an offense that is 5th in the league in scoring (27.5ppg). David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs have comprised a rushing attack that averages over 140 yards per game which is 3rd best in the league.

At 11-4, the Lions are tied with SF and the Eagles at the top of the NFC. While the running game and overall offense have been strong, the defense has seen their struggles. Ranked 24th in the league, they are allowing over 23ppg to their opponents.

Dallas saw their opportunity to win the NFC East come close to an end when they lost to Miami on Christmas Eve 22-20. This was after they were handed a 31-10 beating by the Bills the weak previous. Statistically, the Cowboys are near the top of the league in all major categories.

They are 2nd in scoring (30.1ppg), 5th in points allowed (19.1ppg), 5th in total yards per game (382.3) and 3rd in 3rd down conversion percentage (47.6%). They will need to be at the top of their game in this one to slow down the potent Lions offense and avoid their 1st losing streak of the season.

Best Bet: Cowboys -5.5 (Unibet)

Dallas seems to be a different team when they are playing in their home stadium. All 5 of their losses this season have come on the road while they have remained undefeated at home.

Detroit is going to be coming off a very emotional high from capturing the division and may be a bit too comfortable as they head into Dallas. We are going to be backing the Cowboys here in a get-right spot before they finish up the regular season next week against the Commanders.

Key Trends:

  • Det is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games played on a Saturday when playing on the road.
  • Det is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games played on a Saturday.
  • Dallas is 6-1 ATS as a home favorite this season.
  • Dallas is 3-1 ATS after a loss this season.

SNF Props

  • Detroit has allowed the 8th most passing touchdowns on the season with 24.
  • He has scored a TD in 6 of his last 10 games.

Tony Pollard UNDER 57.5 Rushing Yards -115 (DraftKings)

  • Pollard has failed to reach this total in back-to-back games.
  • The Lions are near the top of the league in rushing yards allowed per game.

Dallas -3.5 (1st Half)

  • In all their home wins this season, they have led by more than this at the break
