John Deere Classic Preview: Live Odds and 2 Best Bets for July 3

The 2025 John Deere Classic will tee off this weekend at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. The tournament should be a fun one; however, many top players will not be in the field. The favorites this weekend are Ben Griffin (+1600), Jason Day (+2500), and Danny McCarthy (+2500).

Deere Run isn’t the longest course, but you need to be accurate with your Driver and good with your wedges to have a chance. Last year, we saw Davis Thompson win this event with a score of 28-under par, so expect to see some very low scores at the top of the leaderboard this weekend. Today, I will break down my two favorite bets for this weekend.

Ben Griffin Top 5 +330

Griffin has been one of the hottest golfers on the tour recently and has strung together a career-changing year so far. The 29-year-old is currently 6th in FedEx Cup points and has 2 wins with 8 top 10 finishes so far in his 22 events this season. That includes top 10 finishes at both the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open.

Since the PGA Championship, Griffin has 6 straight finishes T14 or better, including a win and a 2nd place finish in that stretch. Last season, Griffin finished T5 after shooting 64 and 62 over the weekend, with a total score of 23-under, so he should come into this weekend with a load of confidence.

Griffin is ranked within the Top 40 in Strokes Gained Putting and in the Top 15 in Total strokes gained this season. He has been on an absolute tear lately and may just be catching his stride in the tour. I think he will be able to keep this run going and have a real chance at winning this tournament on Sunday.

Jake Knapp Top 10 +330

Knapp is an extremely hot and cold golfer. He has the ability to go very low every weekend; his issue is putting an entire weekend together. In his 18 events this year he has 3 top 3 finishes and 6 top 25s. Knapp can smash the ball, ranking inside the top 25 in driving distance in the PGA Tour while also being inside the top 20 in strokes gained putting. This combination allows him to score incredible rounds like his 61 last weekend at the Rocket Classic.

Knapp finished T4 last weekend at the Rocket Classic at -21 under on the weekend. Knapp didn’t have a great week at this tournament last year, finishing T52, but he has had a career year this season. Over his last 10 events, he has 2 top 5 finishes.

Knapp is known to play very aggressively, so he is pretty hit or miss, but this course should be primed up for him to go very low and hopefully have a chance to make a run on Sunday.
