3 Underdog Fantasy MLB Props for Tuesday, August 8

Today’s MLB slate features all 32 teams in action. There are a lot of great series taking place, all with significant playoff implications on the line. With less than two months of action to go, each loss can sink a team’s chances at a playoff berth.

On the opposite side, each win is a step closer to the postseason, especially for those teams on the cusp of a spot. Who will emerge as the top team in both the AL and NL?

As we wait and see how these scenarios continue to play out, let’s take a look at the top player props for tonight’s games, which are all found on Underdog. There are a lot of great plays out there, and we’re excited to share them with you!

Zach Eflin OVER 5.5 Strikeouts

Did anyone really expect the St. Louis Cardinals to be one of the worst teams in baseball? If you’re thinking yes right now, you’re either lying, or you have a crystal ball into the future that I’d love to take a look at.

The Cardinals have been terrible as of late, losing four of their last six. They’re averaging just 3.6 runs per game during that span, an indication that the bats are ice-cold. On average, they strike out 8.67 times per game, a potential tell-tale sign of what’s to come tonight.

Zach Eflin has put together a fantastic season. He holds a 12-6 record and has struck out at least six batters in 10 outings on the year.

With that being said, we love Eflin’s chances of mowing down this Cardinals lineup tonight as he looks to keep the Tampa Bay Rays on the right track. With that in mind, we’re strongly recommending the over on his strikeout total tonight.

Yonny Chirinos OVER 3 Strikeouts

Do you really think Yonny Chirinos is going to strike out less than three batters tonight? Neither do we.

The Pittsburgh Pirates strike out at one of the highest rates in Major League Baseball, nearly nine times per game. While they won the first game of the series against the Atlanta Braves yesterday, we’re not expecting that to be the case again today.

Look for the Braves to take the lead early on in this contest, giving Chirinos a great opportunity to settle into his rhythm, striking out at least four batters in the process.

Bobby Witt Jr. OVER 1.5 Total Bases

Bobby Witt Jr. has been one of the only bright spots in what has been an otherwise dreadful Kansas City Royals lineup. They are one of the worst teams in baseball, although they’ve shown life as of late.

Witt Jr. has achieved at least two bases in two of his last three games and doesn’t look to slow down anytime soon. It feels like he has at least a double in him each contest, and his power has also come back, hitting a home run during their series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Plus, the Royals will first face off against Kutter Crawford, who has struggled recently. Look for Witt Jr. to cash this ticket early, perhaps after his first at-bat.
