3 PrizePicks MLB Props for Wednesday, August 2

Wednesday means the return of our favorite things: daytime baseball! We stumbled to a 1-2 mark last night with our MLB props, but we’ve still been on a tear over the last month or so.

Ready to scratch that action itch? Here are 3 PrizePicks MLB props for Wednesday, August 2. Let’s get back in the winner’s circle. Good luck!

MacKenzie Gore OVER 5.5 Strikeouts

Not many folks know about MacKenzie Gore, but he’s got a live arm and outstanding stuff. The 24-year-old lefty has struck out 124 batters in only 106 innings of work this season.

His K-rate of 27.1% ranks in the 74th percentile, which is pretty stout for a 2nd-year pitcher. Gore’s whiff rate also puts him in the 70th percentile, which is also outstanding.

We love the matchup for Gore today. He’ll be going against the Brewers, and they strike out pretty often against lefties. Against this Milwaukee roster, Gore has a K-rate of almost 31%. Let’s ride the Over!

Wade Miley UNDER 4 Strikeouts

This is a generous number because every sportsbook out there has this prop posted at 3.5. Miley has been around a while. He knows how to pitch, but he’s never been a big strikeout guy.

The veteran lefty’s K-rate of 16.7% only puts him in the 11th percentile in MLB. Miley’s whiff rate is also quite low and is in the 7th percentile. Those are 2 strong trends for an Under.

The matchup also favors an Under since Miley is pitching against the Nationals. Washington has 6 hitters that strike out less than 20.6% of the time. This lineup knows how to put the ball in play.

Logan Webb UNDER 5 Strikeouts

This one is tough because Webb does have decent strikeout potential. The big right-hander has struck out 140 batters through 141.2 innings of work in 2023. However, Webb’s whiff rate is surprisingly low and is only in the 18th percentile.

Webb has good stuff, but his fastball only averages around 92 mph, which isn’t great by MLB standards. It also doesn’t move much, which is probably why Webb relies on a sinker to get hitters out.

Arizona has a lineup filled with youngsters that don’t strike out all that much. The D’Backs only fanned 4 times against Alex Cobb last night, and we’re expecting a similar result this evening. Take the Under!
