3 MLB Player Props for Friday, May 31: Should We Follow or Fade Corbin Carroll?

The MLB season is in full effect, and the playoff picture is starting to take shape. Yes, there are still several months until the playoffs start, but at this point in the year, you can typically tell which teams are going to compete down the stretch.

While we’ve seen how these teams have competed as units to this point, we’ve also seen how individual players can take over games. With this in mind, we’ve taken to Underdog to study their board of player props, hoping to sweep the board with our favorite plays from the slate. Let’s get into it!

Bailey Falter UNDER 3.5 Strikeouts

Baily Falter hasn’t been a strikeout machine this season, as he has only had more than three strikeouts in four outings this year. He seems to go deep in games, but for whatever reason, he doesn’t tend to strike a lot of batters out.

With that in mind, he and the Pittsburgh Pirates are taking on the Toronto Blue Jays tonight, a team with the lowest strikeout rate in the league. We’re hammering the under on this line tonight, even though it seems low for a starting pitcher. The Blue Jays just don’t like to strike out, and we don’t think Falter is the pitcher who will find success at a high level.

Wyatt Langford UNDER 1.5 Hits, Runs & RBI

When the Texas Rangers called Wyatt Langford up earlier this year, there was a lot of optimism surrounding the young player. However, Langford has been in a bit of a slump lately, averaging just .167 on the month. He has only achieved five total hits, runs, and RBI this month, and we believe he’ll keep that slump alive against Kenta Maeda and the Detroit Tigers tonight.

Corbin Carroll UNDER 1.5 Hits, Runs & RBI

It’s an under kind of night for us, we guess. After bursting on the scene last year and helping bring the Arizona Cardinals to the World Series, Corbin Carroll has taken a major step backward. He is only batting .191 on the year, which is significantly worse than Langford, as mentioned above. We’re not confident in his ability to get things going against the New York Mets tonight, which is why we’re taking the under here.
