Wyndham Championship DFS Preview: 3 Underdog Picks for Round 1

The Wyndham Championship is officially upon us! Most of the world’s top golfers are participating in this event, which should make for a great four days of golf. The sport has reached peak interest following the recent release of Happy Gilmore 2, which will likely draw a lot of attention to the Wyndham Championship this weekend.

If you’re just joining us, or if you’re a seasoned vet, we have you covered with our top props from Underdog. Let’s get into our best picks from Round 1 of this tournament, hoping to get some extra cash in our pockets!

Max Greyserman OVER 68.5 Round Strokes

Max Greyserman is entering this tournament with an unfortunate streak in the back of his head. He’s missed three straight cuts, which could start to eat into his confidence, especially since he tied for second in the Rocket Classic at the end of June.

He did finish second at the Wyndham Championship last year but still shot 69 in Round 1 on the way to that score. We’re not confident in his ability to have a low round on Thursday, which is why we’re taking the over on his first-round score total.

Rickie Fowler UNDER 67.5 Round Strokes

While we’re projecting Greyserman to finish slow but pick it up in days 2-4, we don’t have the same thoughts about Rickie Fowler. Fowler tends to start hot, as evidenced by two opening-round 65s in his past three tournaments.

The later days are where the wheels tend to fall off the bus for Fowler, so we’re not comfortable betting on his overall finishing position. We are okay with the under on his first-round score, however, believing he’ll keep this trend up from previous weeks.

Jake Knapp UNDER 67.5 Round Strokes

Jake Knapp has been playing some inspired golf lately. He tied for third at the 3M Open and tied for fourth at the Rocket Classic in Detroit in late June.

Knapp might not be a household name at this point, but he is well on his way there, especially if he has another strong performance this weekend. Starting strong will be the key for him to finish in the top 20, if not better, which is why we like his odds of having 67 or fewer strokes in Round 1.
