The UFC returns to Canada this weekend for UFC 315, and the card is stacked with veteran legends and rising prospects. We have 2 title fights that I believe will be fireworks and must-watch PPV this weekend!
As with every PPV we get quite a few tricky matchups, bookmakers have not done us a ton of favors with odds placement, but we will find some value! With previous champions fighting on this card, it will always be a big draw!
2025 could be the year we see a lot of legends leave this game and we have a couple on this card who could be one fight away from retirement! Here’s a breakdown of four plays I’m locking in, including a couple of value parlays!
Natalia Silva is one of the most dynamic young flyweights on the roster. She is athletic, technical, and rapidly improving. She averages more significant strikes landed/minute, has a higher striking accuracy, and a higher striking defense. If this stays on the feet, she should handle business. If Alexa Grasso wants to take her down, good luck with a 91% takedown defense. Natalia will be the quicker fighter of the two and should find a way to outpoint Grasso here.
Pairing her with the over 2.5 rounds in the Jose Aldo vs. Aiemann Zahabi fight adds solid value. Aldo is back for one more dance, this time with a quickly rising Aiemann Zahabi, who is on a 5 fight win streak. I do not see any upside to an Aldo finish, and I still believe Aldo is too craft and experienced to get taken out by Zahabi. This one should see the judges, who may lean to favor the Canadian Zahabi in a close fight.
Two high-level, technical battles with elite durability on both sides. Shevchenko vs. Fiorot, though will have its moments, I ultimately believe will go the distance. I believe we will get most of the minutes on the feet as these two tangle and try to figure each other out. Fiorot will respect Shevchenko’s experience which I believe will help push this to later rounds. I believe we have a higher upside of finishing the later this goes as fighters wear out.
Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena is a clash of pressure wrestling versus sharp boxing, but both have shown the ability to weather storms and fight smart. I 100% expect this to reach the championship rounds, where we could possibly find a finish, more likely on the JDM side. When Belal wins, he takes his fights deep and to decisions in 7 of his last 8 fights.
Don’t overlook Jeongyeong Lee, and I want my money back from his last fight. I took him vs Hyder Amil and they chose to stand there and brawl it out until one man fell. I hope he is smart enough to learn his lesson and you can’t get into those kinds of brawls.
He’s facing a different type of fighter this time around. I don’t believe Daniel Santos is as dangerous on the feet as Amil is, and Santos can be taken down. Lee is a much bigger fighter, more explosive, and has shown strengths in his grappling game. If he can get Santos on the ground, he can wear him down and possibly find his own KO, off a KO loss!
Though these aren’t the typical odds I like for straights, I think this should be -200. Yes, in Jose Aldo’s last win, he won by more than this over a very talented Jonathan Martinez, but Martinez was a shell of himself.
Zahabi will have the home crowd behind him, and he will more than likely have the judges behind him in a close fight. I don’t see a world where Jose finds a finish. He is too old, and Zahabi has solid defense everywhere and a very strong fight IQ. This one should go the distance, and we need Zahabi to win just one round!
