Super Bowl LVIII: Check Out Our Best Bet for 49ers vs. Chiefs

We have made it to the grand stage of all football and the unwritten national holiday, which is the Super Bowl. In a rematch of Super Bowl 54, the Kansas City Chiefs will look to repeat as champions over the San Francisco 49ers, whom they defeated 31-20 back in that previous SB.

However, these are not the same teams by any means. Sure, there are remaining pieces, and superstars like Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Nick Bosa and Deebo Samuel will be clashing once again. But, overall, this is sure to be a completely different game, and we think it’s going to be nothing less than legit.

Is Anyone Hotter Than The Chiefs?

Kansas City is coming off a 17-10 AFC Championship victory over the 1-seeded Baltimore Ravens. However, that score does not tell the story as KC seemed to be in control from the 2nd quarter when they took a 10-point lead.

They successfully held Lamar Jackson and company to just 3 of 11 on 3rd down conversion attempts and forced 3 turnovers while not giving one of them back. Travis Kelce looked dominant from the outset and finished the game with 11 receptions on 11 targets for 116 yards and a score.

Isiah Pacheco ran hard as usual and finished with 68 yards on 24 carries and a score. Mahomes was the prototypical leader and now finds himself back in the Super Bowl for the 4th time and looking for his 3rd ring which will put him in the talks with the all-time greats. This would be his 3rd ring at age 28, Brady accomplished that feat by age 27.

Niners Continue Playoff String of Slow Starts

San Francisco played the comeback kids in their NFC Championship game against the Lions. A game that was extremely fun to watch but was marred by some terrible decision-making by Detroit head coach Dan Campbell.

Brock Purdy looked anything but a game manager as he tucked the ball and scrambled for numerous 1st downs down the stretch and made some tough throws in some tight windows. Their do-it-all back, Christian McCaffery, went for 132 all-purpose yards and 2 touchdowns.

If the 9ers can pull off this win, Christian and his father Ed, would become just the 2nd father/son duo to win Super Bowls for the same franchise in league history.

As of a little over a week before the game, we are seeing over 70% of the public riding the defending champion Chiefs and roughly the same percentage of money coming in as well. However, the opening line was 1.5 and has slowly ticked to 2.

It will be interesting to see how the line moves as the later money comes in, however, the fact that the early public money has poured in on the Chiefs only to have the line move in the opposite direction is something to consider.

Best Bet: Chiefs +2.5 (-115) (FanDuel)

That said, we are also going to back the Chiefs. The 9ers had been great against the run all season but in their last 3 games, they have allowed an average of 142.3ypg.

The defense seems to be completely worn down and while Purdy and company have been able to keep them winning, it is going to be a tall task against an extremely experienced and hungry defending champion Chiefs team.

Key Trends:

  • KC is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games.
  • KC is 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games when playing as the underdog.
  • SF is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games.
  • SF is 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games against Kansas City.
