National Title Game Betting Preview: 3 Best Bets for Purdue vs UConn

The Madness all comes down to this. This year’s Tournament was one of the most memorable of the past several years. While there were a lot of upsets along the way, it ended up being two No. 1 seeds in the final, UConn and Purdue.

UConn is looking to be the first back-to-back winner since Florida did it in 2006 and 2007, where Purdue is looking to win their first title in program history. Both teams have different stakes on the line for this game, and we’re excited for what should be a great matchup.

We’ve been watching all season and feel like we have a pretty good read on how things might go down tonight. With that in mind, take a look at our best bets below, hoping we hit it big on the last game of the season!

UConn -6.5 (-112, FanDuel)

This feels like a no-brainer, especially after watching both teams play this weekend. UConn has continued their fast-paced style of play, while Purdue takes the slow and steady approach. That has worked for Purdue to this point, but we think that will swiftly come to an end in this one.

UConn is simply too good, and they have a better all-around team, at least in our eyes. Zach Edey is a beast in the post, that is true, but he is too slow to keep up with the physical demands of UConn’s star-studded lineup.

If UConn has a decent shooting day, we project them to win this one by at least 10 points, winning the matchup with ease.

UNDER 145.5 Points (-115, BetMGM)

We love taking UConn’s spread and the under in this game as a same-game parlay on FanDuel. Purdue started the tournament hot, scoring at least 72 points in their first four games, but slowed down in a big way against NC State.

If Edey isn’t scoring a lot, and Purdue has a tough time getting their three-point game going, it could be a sign that they’ll be in the doghouse for much of the game. This could cause their score to be closer to 55 than 106 like they had in their second-round game against Utah State.

With this in mind, we believe the game’s total will be close to 144, but ultimately, stay under this total.

Zach Edey to record 3+ Blocks (+155, FanDuel)

We had to take one player prop from FanDuel, especially since the odds are so good. Edey has had at least three blocks in two of his five tournament games to this point, which doesn’t necessarily scream that this is a smash play.

However, with this being the championship game, some of UConn’s players could get aggressive early on in this one, resulting in them taking bad shots at the beginning of the game.

With that in mind, we like Edey to record at least three blocks in this game, potentially hitting the over on this prop by halftime.
