Falcons at Commanders Betting Preview: Top Picks for Sunday Night Football

We have an exciting game this Sunday Night with a lot of NFC playoff implications on the line. 2 Rookie QBs will be facing off in primetime with Jayden Daniels and Michael Penix taking the field.

Daniels is the likely rookie of the year candidate, and his performance so far has been very promising this season. Penix will make his 2nd career start after being brought in for a struggling Kirk Cousins. Today we’ll break down this SNF matchup and I’ll give you the three best bets.

Atlanta Falcons (8-7)

The changing of the guards has seemed to bring new life to this Falcons squad. Michael Penix looked great against the Giants, although most QBs do, but it was promising to see him look so composed in his first start.

The Falcons currently are tied with the Buccaneers at 8-7 but hold the tiebreaker to stay atop the division. They have won their last 2 games, and if they can pull this game off, they end with a winnable game against the Panthers.

I am interested to see how the Falcons look against a hot Commanders squad. This Atlanta offense is loaded with young talent and now, with Penix at the helm, they can take a look at what the future of their franchise will look like.

Washington Commanders (10-5)

It has been a great year for the Commanders under new ownership. They brought in a great HC in Dan Quinn and seemed to have drafted their franchise QB in Jayden Daniels.

This team is solid all the way through and, while they may not exactly be a Super Bowl Contender yet, they are showing some promise for the future of this organization.

The Commanders are coming into this game on a 3 game-win streak after defeating the Eagles last weekend in a wild game. Vibes are high in the nation’s capital and a win this weekend would just about seal a playoff berth. This team has a ton of promise, and this could be a forward look at a potential Wild Card matchup.

Best Bets

Washington Commanders -4 – This basically comes down to me having more faith in Jayden Daniels’ year of experience over Penix’s one start. Penix is stepping into a huge game during a playoff push and this will be a true test for him and the Falcons. The Commanders have been hot and I think that run continues.

Jayden Daniels Over 48.5 Rush Yards -115 – Daniels has hit this over in his last 2 games and has popped some big runs. I think he will continue to look to move the chains with his legs and avoid unnecessary turnovers.

Darnell Mooney Over 4.5 Receptions +135 – Mooney is the team’s 2nd leading receiver and has accounted for 62 receptions and 955 yards this season. He averages over 6 targets per game and connected with Penix for 5 receptions last week. I think he will stay involved and continue to build rapport with the rookie QB.
