It has been a tale of 2 seasons for the Philadelphia Eagles. After an incredible 10-1 start, they completely fell apart down the stretch, losing 5 of their last 6. There may not be a colder team to ever enter the playoffs than this Eagles squad. Not only have the losses piled up, but the injuries have as well.
Devonta Smith, AJ Brown, D’Andre Swift, Reed Blankenship, and Darius Slay all carry questionable designations for this game. In addition, Jalen Hurts is dealing with a finger injury that could limit him a bit as well.
Unlike the Eagles, Tampa has had a big turnaround for the better in their season as the 2nd half went on. After suffering 6 losses in 7 games, they went on to win 5 of their last 6 games to wrap up their season and finish 9-8 and slide into the playoffs.
Rachaad White was a nice surprise as he almost doubled his yardage and scored 9 total touchdowns. Both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin exceeded the 1000-yard mark and Evans tied his 2nd best season with 13 touchdowns.
As a noted Eagles fan, I have tried to find a way to back them in this spot. Literally, the only reason would be that everyone has written them off and that tends to be the times when teams surprise everyone. However, their last game against the Giants seemed to show a team that had just given up on the season.
Tampa is heading in the other direction and looks to be inspired heading into the playoffs. The worst part for the Eagles has been the defense who seemingly cannot stop anyone. It is likely that Evans and Godwin will light up a secondary that is banged up and tired. Let’s take the points!
