Looking for some solid Underdog Fantasy Pick’em plays for tonight’s NHL slate? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. With 12 games facing off tonight, there’s no shortage of NHL Underdog picks, and believe us, there are some good ones.
Based on some of the recent trends, matchups, and odds, we’ve found 5 picks that stand out from the rest. We have some higher and lower picks, some players you might have overlooked. We scoured all of the games to find the best value on the board.
Player | Team | Stat | Higher/Lower | Multiplier |
---|---|---|---|---|
Robert Thomas | St. Louis Blues | 0.5 Assists | Higher | 1.18x |
Nick Paul | Tampa Bay Lightning | 0.5 Goals | Higher | 1.81x |
Tyler Toffoli | New Jersey Devils | 0.5 Goals | Higher | 1.64x |
Zach Hyman | Edmonton Oilers | 0.5 Points | Lower | 1.32x |
Elias Lindholm | Calgary Flames | 1.5 Shots | Lower | 1.21x |
Thomas has been an assist machine lately, recording at least one in each of his last 7 games. This includes some solid teams as well such as Winnipeg, Florida, and Edmonton. So, he’s showing he knows how to set up plays.
He’s consistently been the primary playmaker for the Blues, and with a matchup against Washington tonight, he should have no shortage of opportunities to keep that streak alive.
The Caps have shown that they can be vulnerable defensively as they’ve given up plenty of high-danger chances.
Given his 1.18x payout to hit this assist prop, there’s plenty of value in backing him to grab at least one helper to keep the hot streak going.
Paul has been on fire as of late as he’s scored a goal in 4 straight games for the Lightning. His efficiency is off the charts as in 3 of those games he’s only taken a single shot, but found the back of the net on all 3.
He’s playing a key role in Tampa Bay’s offense right now, and he’s also getting top-six minutes with some power play time.
Calgary isn’t the best team in the league and they have had trouble defensively. Paul’s finishing ability gives him a great shot to extend his scoring streak to 5 games.
His 1.81x anytime goal payout tells us that this is a high-upside play. You can take this one to the bank.
Despite being on one of the worst teams in the NHL, Toffoli has been thriving in road games. He’s scored in 4 of his last 5 away from home and 3 out of 5 overall. He’s consistently finding the net, and his 1.64x multiplier for a goal gives this pick some decent value.
Facing Montreal, a team that has been struggling defensively as of late, he’s in a great spot to keep his road scoring run alive. We think this center will get the ice team set up on the power play to find the back of the net at least once.
Hyman has been ice-cold lately as he’s only recorded a single point in his last 4 games. A big part of this is most likely due in part to Edmonton being on a 4 game-losing streak.
Despite playing relatively heavy minutes, he’s been struggling to find the scoresheet even though he’s playing alongside Draisaitl and McDavid.
Edmonton is up against a tough Florida team tonight that consistently limits chances, and Hyman’s recent slump makes this a smart lower play. At 1.32, there’s a good chance you can cash this one.
Lindholm has gone under 1.5 shots in 3 of his last 5 games, and his 0.81x multiplier for more than that tells us the market isn’t confident in him clearing this line, either.
He’s facing a tough Islanders squad that doesn’t allow many quality looks, in fact, they’re 8th in the NHL for blocked shots at 16.23 blocks per game. On top of that, his recent shot volume hasn’t been high enough to feel comfortable taking the over.
At 1.21x, we’ll take this all day. We just don’t see him getting the chances in tonight’s game.
That’s the best higher/lower mix for tonight’s NHL action. There are other good ones on the docket, but these are clearly the best ones we’ve seen for the big Thursday Night Hockey slate.
