Baseball’s brightest stars take the field tonight at Truist Park in Atlanta as the American League clashes with the National League in the 2025 MLB All-Star Game. With the AL riding a 9-1 run over the past decade in this midseason showdown, the pressure is on the NL to deliver in front of their home fans in Atlanta.
Led by rookie ace Paul Skenes, the National League hopes to snap that trend, but it won’t be without a fight. With Aaron Judge, Cal Raleigh, and Tarik Skubal headlining for the AL, it will not be an easy task.
Team | Run Line | Total | Moneyline |
---|---|---|---|
American League Tarik Skubal | -1.5 +163 | O 7 -121 | -102 |
National League Paul Skenes | +1.5 -201 | U 7 -101 | -119 |
The first pitch is set for tonight, and the bookmakers see this one as a near toss-up.
The American League is listed at -102 on the moneyline, while the National League sits barely favored at -119. The run line has the AL at -1.5 at +161, the NL at +1.5 at -199, and the over/under is set at 7 runs, with the overpriced at -121 and the under at -101.
That low total reflects the 2 starters taking the mound — Tarik Skubal for the AL and Paul Skenes for the NL, even if it’s just for an inning or 2 because both are absolutely dealing in 2025. Skubal enters with a 2.10 ERA and 0.90 WHIP, while Skenes counters with a 2.00 ERA and 0.95 WHIP.
Sure, on paper, it’s a dead-even matchup, but this game might come down to who can provide run support and hold things down once the bullpens take over later in the game.

Let’s start with the American League, which is led by Aaron Judge, who’s on a tear this year even by his standards. He’s hitting an insane .355 AVG with 35 dingers and a league-leading 6.5 fWAR, making him the most dangerous hitter on the field tonight. However, all eyes might not be on just him. Batting behind him is Cal Raleigh, who has already slugged 38 home runs before the break—a number no catcher in MLB history has matched this early, and he won last night’s home run derby, to no surprise. Toss in Vladimir Guerrero Jr. who has a .310 AVG and 25 HRs, Riley Greene, Ryan O’Hearn, and rising talents like Jacob Wilson and Junior Caminero, and this lineup is absolutely stacked top to bottom and the NL pitchers are going to have to be on top of their game.
The AL also brings serious depth off the bench. Guys like Bobby Witt Jr., Jazz Chisholm Jr., Byron Buxton, and Randy Arozarena — all household names on their own — can all come in and flip the game with one swing or one stolen base. There’s power, speed, and versatility all over the diamond. No matter who is in the box for the AL, it’s going to be electric.
And then there’s the pitching. Skubal leads a rotation that might be the deepest the AL has had in years. Even with Max Fried, Jacob deGrom, and Garrett Crochet sidelined, replacements like Hunter Brown and his 1.82 ERA and Joe Ryan and his 2.76 ERA keep the bar high. The bullpen, anchored by Josh Hader, Aroldis Chapman, and Andrés Muñoz, is nasty and built for exactly this kind of short-inning showcase.
While the AL looks smoking hot, the National League counters with an offense that’s arguably more balanced. Shohei Ohtani is putting up video-game numbers with his 30 HRs and a 1.024 OPS, while Pete Crow-Armstrong has been one of the biggest breakout stars of 2025 as he already has 25 HRs and 25 SBs. Kyle Tucker, Ronald Acuña Jr., and Freddie Freeman round out a top 6 that’s every bit as dangerous as the AL’s, and in some cases, more so.
The big question for the NL is whether they can hold the line once Skenes comes out of the game. Clayton Kershaw is available, but more as a symbolic pick at this point given his age and recovery. That leaves guys like Matthew Boyd, Andrew Abbott, and Jason Adam to handle the middle and late innings. We can’t deny that they’re good arms, but they don’t match the AL’s pen in stuff or experience.
The NL bullpen, led by Edwin Díaz and Jason Adam, has had strong seasons but lacks the depth and power the AL has. And keep an eye on injuries — Ketel Marte and Acuña are both elite but could be limited.
While the National League has the edge in power-speed combo and plays at home (somewhat), it’s the American League’s depth and elite pitching that gives them a stronger overall profile heading into this midsummer showdown.
This is where we lean on consistency and overall roster strength that simply cannot be ignored.
The American League has won 9 of the last 10 All-Star Games, and that’s not a fluke. With Judge and Raleigh at the heart of the order, and dominant arms like Skubal, Hader, and Muñoz to close it out, this team is just built better for a high-stakes, one-night game like this.
We have to go with the American League to win, 6-3. The NL will make it competitive in the early innings, especially with the crowd behind Acuña and Ohtani, but the AL’s deeper bullpen and big bats in the late innings should put this one away.
This game has star power everywhere which will make it a great game to watch and talk about for years, but the edge goes to the team that’s been here before — and that’s the AL.
