Here are tonight’s best Underdog Fantasy Pick’em plays across the MLB slate. We’ve slapped together a good mix of sharp higher and lower picks with strong matchups and real value on the board. If you put all of these picks on a single slip, you’re looking at up to 39.51x — that is $118.50 on a $5 entry.
Think that’s a decent payday at one of the biggest DFS sites?
From Juan Soto’s potential to go yard to a tough spot for Alex Bregman, these are the top picks to lock in tonight.
Name | Higher/Lower | Stat | Payout |
---|---|---|---|
Alex Bregman | Lower | 0.5 Total Bases | 1.16x |
Brandon Lowe | Higher | 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs | 1.07x |
Juan Soto | Higher | 0.5 Home Runs | 2.39x |
Elly De La Cruz | Higher | 1.5 Total Bases | 1.11x |
This might seem like a gamble at first glance because it’s Alex Bregman, but he is running into a brick wall tonight in the form of Tarik Skubal. Skubal has been absolutely lights out at home, boasting a ridiculous 1.13 ERA and a perfect 3-0 record in Detroit. On top of that, he has a 0.88 WHIP overall. In 4 home starts this season, he’s held hitters to just 17 hits over 24 innings and has 33 strikeouts with just a single walk. He’s on track for a back-to-back Cy Young year.
Bregman has hit well away from home this season with a .313 AVG, but in the first 2 games against Detroit, he’s just 1-for-7 with one single. When facing elite lefties like Skubal — especially ones in top form — this is a spot to fade. It just goes to show, you have to look at the entire matchup even with big names like Bregman.
With the multiplier sitting at 1.16x, this is a smart lower pick to anchor your card.
The surface stats don’t scream confidence with Brandon Lowe, but like Bregman, context tells a better story.
Against Toronto, Lowe went 2-for-4 in his lone game against them this season. And in his last 6 games, he’s reached base in 5 of them while racking up 4 hits and 3 RBIs. He’s looking like he’s finding his groove and it’s going to be a good May for him.
He’s been even better on the road lately, batting .235 away — which, while not the flashiest we’ve seen, puts him in position for production against a Blue Jays squad that’s allowed 5+ runs in 4 of their last 6.
If Tampa Bay’s offense gets going early, Lowe should definitely benefit. He’s also had a knack for timely hits this year and with just a single base hit with a RISP, you’re in luck.
His 1.07x payout gives just enough extra value to make this pick worthwhile. He’s due for a breakout spot, and this could be it.
Let’s get to the spicy one that everyone keeps their eyes on.
Juan Soto is a pure power hitter who’s already gone deep 8 times this season, and he’s now going up against Clay Holmes, who’s allowed 13 earned runs in 42.2 innings and is more contact-heavy than overpowering.
Soto hasn’t been his normal self all season since going to the Mets, but he has been solid at home, with 3 home runs and 12 RBIs in 21 games in New York. Against Pittsburgh, he’s already got 2 hits and a homer in just 6 at-bats. He’s looking a lot like he’s dialed in at the plate.
He’s been hot recently with 6 hits and 6 RBIs in his last 6 games, and if Holmes misses his spot, Soto can absolutely punish a mistake and take him to the left-field fence.
At a juicy 2.39x multiplier, you don’t need volume — just one good bomb. This one’s a high-upside play that could carry your card on its own.
Elly De La Cruz has been raking at home. He’s hitting .288 with 21 hits and 4 homers in 20 games in Cincinnati. Tonight, he’s facing the White Sox, who rank among the league’s worst in team ERA and have been consistently giving up extra-base hits. They’re not as bad as they were last year, but they haven’t improved on the bump much.
Elly already has a hit against the Sox this year, and his 25 ABs over the last 6 games have resulted in 8 hits, 2 doubles, and a dinger. That kind of production points directly to value on this total bases line.
He’s a threat to reach this mark with just one swing or a single and a stolen base thanks to his elite speed and aggressiveness on the bags. Given the matchup and his recent form, this is one of the best “higher” plays on the board tonight sitting at 1.11x.
These 4 MLB picks bring a strong mix of value, matchup advantage, and upside. Whether you’re riding Soto’s power, fading Bregman against the dominant Skubal, or backing Elly and Lowe to produce and get some bags, this group offers a solid shot to cash tonight on Underdog Fantasy.
