4 NHL Player Prop Picks for Tonight

The NHL slate tonight offers quite a few great opportunities to cash in on some big player props. We’ve combed through and analyzed the matchups, recent trends, and even the player performances to find 4 of the best props that are worth your attention. These are the NHL prop picks we love the most for tonight’s 4 game slate.

Name Team Prop Odds
Kent Johnson Columbus Blue Jackets Over 0.5 Points -105
Tage Thompson Buffalo Sabres Anytime Goalscorer +140
Quinn Hughes Vancouver Canucks Over 0.5 Assists +120
Nathan MacKinnon Colorado Avalanche Over 1.5 Points -125

Kent Johnson Over 0.5 Points (Columbus Blue Jackets @ Utah Hockey Club)

  • Player Prop Odds: -105

Kent Johnson has been quietly productive for the Blue Jackets. He’s notched at least 1 point in each of his last 5 games including a 2 point night in their loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

He’s playing a prominent role on the offense and has shown he can generate chances on a consistent basis.

Facing Utah’s goaltender Karel Vejmelka, who has a lowly .331 GAA and .881 save percentage in his last 4 starts, Johnson has a great chance to extend his streak and get some points on his scoresheet.

With Utah allowing the 15th-most goals in the league, we don’t think Johnson should have a problem thriving in this matchup.

Tage Thompson Anytime Goalscorer (Nashville Predators @ Buffalo Sabres)

  • Player Prop Odds: +140

Tage Thompson is the heart of the Sabres’ offense and one of the best centers in the NHL with his 25 goals in 46 games this season. On top of that, he even put up a hat trick a few nights ago against the Bruins, which is no easy feat.

He’s been particularly dangerous at home, scoring in 4 of Buffalo’s last 5 games at KeyBank Center.

Nashville’s goaltending tandem of Juuse Saros and Kevin Lankinen has been solid but not what we’d call invincible. With Saros posting a .286 GAA in his last 3 starts, he’s not exactly inspiring confidence.

Thompson’s ability to find soft spots in the defense and his lethal shot make this a strong value bet at some decent plus money.

Quinn Hughes Over 0.5 Assists (Vancouver Canucks @ Dallas Stars)

  • Player Prop Odds: +120

Quinn Hughes is the engine of the Canucks’ offense. This is especially true on the power play, where he leads the team in primary assists with 18 on the season.

Hughes has recorded at least 1 assist in 5 of Vancouver’s last 7 games, including 2 multi-assist performances against Nashville and St. Louis.

The Stars boast strong goaltending with Jake Oettinger in the crease, but Hughes’ creativity and Vancouver’s strong play-driving ability give this bet some serious value.

At +120, this is a nice opportunity to cash in on a reliable playmaker.

Nathan MacKinnon Over 1.5 Points (St. Louis Blues @ Colorado Avalanche)

  • Player Prop Odds: -125

Nathan MacKinnon has been unstoppable for Colorado as he’s racked up 12 points in his last 5 games.

The Avalanche are facing a struggling Blues squad that has allowed 3.7 goals per game in January alone. MacKinnon thrives in these matchups and has been heavily involved in nearly every facet of the offense.

Whether it’s setting up Martin Necas, the former Hurricane, or finishing plays himself, MacKinnon’s combination of elite skill and his insanely high usage makes this bet a safe choice, even with slightly juiced odds.
