3 Underdog MLB Player Props for Tuesday, August 15

After a very light slate yesterday, MLB fans are treated to 15 games today. There are a lot of great games on the schedule this evening, and we’re pretty excited to see how they all play out.

We have identified a few great player props for these contests, which can all be found on Underdog.

Graham Ashcraft OVER 4 Strikeouts

It’s getting down to a do-or-die situation for the Cincinnati Reds. They are 3.5 games out of the lead for the NL Central and just a game back in the NL Wild Card race.

They’ve also lost seven of their last ten games. If they continue on that trend, it’s not looking great for them to make a postseason push. With that in mind, we’re all over Ashcraft tonight, who hopes to start the Reds on the right track.

He has achieved at least five strikeouts in his last two outings, including a seven K performance against the Miami Marlins. While the Cleveland Guardians hold the league’s lowest strikeout rate, they’ve faltered as of late. We like Ashcraft’s chances of striking out at least five batters, especially given the current stakes.

Yusei Kikuchi UNDER 6.5 Strikeouts

Let’s make one thing clear. We’re big believers in Kikuchi and think he’s a great young pitcher. However, he’s facing off against the red-hot Philadelphia Phillies tonight, who are making quite the playoff push of their own.

The Phillies are hitting in droves, which doesn’t bode well for Kikuchi tonight. Plus, 7+ strikeouts is a difficult achievement for any pitcher, limiting his odds even further.

He’s achieved this just one time in his last three outings. With his matchup in mind, stay away from the over for Kikuchi tonight.

Jordan Montgomery OVER 6 Strikeouts

Jordan Montgomery has pitched in two outings since joining the Texas Rangers. The first, was a six-strikeout, six-hit performance against the Miami Marlins, and the second, was a five-strikeout, seven-hit outing versus the Oakland Athletics.

He is the picture of consistency and looks to continue that in tonight’s game against the LA Angels. The Angels don’t have much to play for at this point, given their record and distance from a Wild Card position.

The Rangers, on the other hand, have plenty to play for. Look for Montgomery to get out a hot start tonight, mowing down at least six batters.
