Top Underdog Player Props for Monday Night Football

Our two Week 1 MNF props cashed in last week’s tumultuous game between the Bills and Jets. After the stunning, quick end to Aaron Rodgers’ first season in New York, it was unclear how much the Jets would be able to compete with Buffalo.

Josh Allen threw three interceptions and lost a fumble but surpassed his rushing yard total by a yard.
Our second win came from another former Packer playing his first game in Jets’ green, Allen Lazard. The receiver led the team with 46 yards on two catches, enough to cash our best bet.

For Week 2’s Monday Night Football, the division battles continue with twice the action. New Orleans is favored by three in Charlotte against Carolina in the early game that kicks off at 7:15 pm ET. The Panthers have won three of the last four in this series, while the Saints’ offense has struggled to score, averaging 11.5 points per game.

New Orleans didn’t look particularly impressive in a home win against Tennessee last week, but it was notably better than the egg laid by Carolina in a loss to the Falcons. Bryce Young completed 53% of his throws for just 146 yards (3.8 YPA) and a touchdown while adding two interceptions in his debut.

Game 2 on Monday gets underway at 8:15 pm ET, and the Pittsburgh Steelers are home underdogs to the visiting Browns. Cleveland smothered Cincinnati 24-3 to start their season last week, allowing the Bengals to gain just 2.6 yards per play while powering their way to over 200 yards rushing on 40 carries to keep the ball away from Joe Burrow.

Our prop card for the Monday night action is brought to you by Underdog Fantasy; read ahead for tonight’s best bets.

Derek Carr OVER 240.5 Passing Yards

Carolina’s passing defense was not tested last week against Atlanta, but that is more because of the opposing quarterback than the effectiveness of their secondary. Desmond Ridder completed 15-of-18 passes for 115 yards, with nine attempts targeting running backs Bijan Robinson, who led the team with six targets, and Tyler Allgeier.

Wide receivers combined for eight of those looks, and Ridder caught his own tipped pass that he proceeded to lose six yards on. Suffice it to say, Atlanta wasn’t concerned.

This week, they’ll face Carr and the Saints’ receiving corps, who aired it out 33 times last week for over 300 yards. 29 of his throws went in the direction of either Chris Olave, Michael Thomas, Rashid Shaheed, or Juwan Johnson.

That group of players will prove much more difficult for Carolina to stop and should get a lot of work Monday night. The Saints only managed 2.6 yards per carry on the ground last week and will prioritize their passing attack.

Kenny Pickett UNDER 203.5 Passing Yards

The Steelers will be without Diontae Johnson on Monday after the receiver suffered a hamstring injury against San Francisco last week. Allen Robinson and George Pickens, who saw a combined 15 targets in Week 1, will now be tasked to lead the Steeler pass-catchers for the next several weeks.

Kenny Pickett threw it 46 times in Pittsburgh’s opening loss, the second-most in a game during his short pro career. The team attempted only nine designed runs against the 49ers, and while Cleveland’s defense is also formidable, we expect more production from Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren this week.

More running plays mean fewer opportunities for Pickett to accumulate yards, and with the Browns churning clock while they have the ball, we expect the young quarterback to struggle to reach 200 yards passing.
We’ll be playing Pickett under 203.5 yards Monday night.
