MLB Same Game Parlay Explained: Cubs vs. Reds on July 10

If you’ve never built a same-game parlay before, tonight’s Cubs-Reds matchup at Great American Ball Park is a great place to start. A same-game parlay (SGP) just means you’re combining multiple bets from one single game into one ticket — if all the legs hit, you get paid out at much better odds than betting each piece separately. If even one leg misses, the whole ticket loses, so the key is picking legs that actually make sense together.

Here’s a beginner-friendly, three-leg parlay for Cubs at Reds on Friday night, with the reasoning behind every piece spelled out plainly. If you need a sportsbook to place it with, check out the DraftKings Promo Code or FanDuel Promo Code.

Leg 1: Chicago Cubs Moneyline

The simplest bet on the board is picking who wins the game outright — that’s the moneyline. The Cubs are in Cincinnati with a lineup that’s been clicking, and Chicago is currently favored in this one with the game sitting as close to a pick’em as MLB games get, with Chicago holding a slight built-in market edge given the current form of both clubs. Betting the moneyline is the most straightforward way to have skin in the game without worrying about margins or totals.

Leg 2: Total Runs Over 9.5

The total (also called the “over/under”) is a bet on the combined final score of both teams. Tonight’s number is set at 9.5 runs. Both of these offenses have shown they can put runs on the board, and neither bullpen has been lights-out recently, which makes the over here a reasonable add to a parlay looking for some scoring support.

Leg 3: Pete Crow-Armstrong Over 1.5 Total Bases

A player prop like this asks a specific player to hit a specific statistical number — in this case, Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong recording at least two total bases (a double counts as two, a homer as four, and so on). Crow-Armstrong has been a walking total-bases machine lately, clearing this exact number in a strong share of his recent games, including multiple two-plus total-base performances against playoff-caliber pitching just this past week. It’s a prop built for a player in real rhythm at the plate.

The Full Parlay

Put it all together and you’ve got the Cubs to win, the game to go over the total, and Pete Crow-Armstrong to produce extra-base pop — three bets that don’t contradict each other and actually reinforce the same story: Chicago’s offense showing up in a winnable spot. Combining these into a same-game parlay multiplies your potential payout compared to betting each leg on its own, which is exactly why SGPs have become such a popular way to bet on baseball.

  • Chicago Cubs Moneyline (check your book for current odds)
  • Total Runs Over 9.5 (check your book for current odds)
  • Pete Crow-Armstrong Over 1.5 Total Bases (check your book for current odds)

Remember, all three legs need to hit for the parlay to pay out, so treat this as a fun, higher-upside ticket rather than your only bet of the night. Not sure what your potential payout looks like?
