Man City vs. Brighton Over/Under 3.5 Goals: What Prediction Markets Say About a Premier League Rematch

Manchester City host Brighton & Hove Albion at the Etihad on Saturday in a Premier League match that puts the league’s two highest-scoring attacks on the same pitch. Public prediction markets are pricing total goals at 3.5, and the crowd is leaning toward the under. With the two sides having already met once this week, there is plenty of fresh evidence to weigh.

What the Market Is Saying About Goals

On the over/under 3.5 total goals market, the Over is priced at 41.5 percent while the Under sits at 58.5 percent. In plain terms, traders see roughly a four-in-ten chance that the teams combine for four or more goals in 90 minutes plus stoppage time. The companion line at 2.5 goals tells a different story, with the Over priced at 64.5 percent, so the market expects goals but not necessarily a shootout.

If you are new to reading these numbers, a price of 41.5 percent is simply the market’s implied probability. It is a snapshot of what traders collectively believe, not a guarantee, and it moves with team news and money. You can compare it against sportsbook prices on our Premier League odds page.

Two Elite Attacks, One Very Familiar Opponent

City lead the Premier League with seven wins and one loss from eight matches, 21 points and a goal difference of plus 11, having scored 20 and conceded nine. Brighton sit third on 16 points with five wins, one draw and two defeats. Albion are the league’s top scorers with 23 goals, three more than City, and their goal difference of plus 16 is the best in the division. The expected goals totals back it up: City are at 16.7 and Brighton at 16.2, the two highest in the league.

The teams also just played each other. In Wednesday’s EFL Cup fourth round tie at the Etihad, they finished 2-2 after 90 minutes before City won 4-3 on penalties in front of a record domestic cup crowd of 55,345. Brighton’s goals came from Yalcouye and Rutter, while Mateo Kovacic scored from 25 yards and Vitor Reis got his first club goal for City. Both managers rotated heavily, so the lineups on Saturday should look quite different.

The Case for Goals

There are plenty of reasons the over could land. City have scored in each of their last 24 Premier League games, their longest such run since a 29-game streak between December 2018 and September 2019. They have also conceded 10 goals across their last five matches, including a 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa last Saturday that ended their perfect start. Erling Haaland scored City’s goal in that game, and he has seven goals in seven Premier League appearances against Brighton, scoring in each of his last four.

Brighton, for their part, have not kept a clean sheet in their last 19 meetings with City. That is a long run of conceding, and it suggests Saturday is unlikely to finish as a tidy 1-0. Haaland, Elliot Anderson, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol were all rested midweek and are expected back, which should give City their strongest spine again.

The Case for the Under

The market’s lean toward the under is easy to understand. Reaching four goals requires a lot to go right, and even a 3-1 or 2-2 scoreline falls just short. Brighton have also gone three games without a win, drawing at Jablonec in the Conference League, losing 2-0 at Liverpool and then drawing at City. They are missing key players too, with Kadioglu, Chema Andres, Mitoma, Ferguson, Tzimas, Azeez and Yohanna all out.

City have their own gaps. Antoine Semenyo is out with a knee injury for about seven more weeks and Matheus Nunes is a doubt. City also have not won any of their last five games against Brighton in all competitions, and they could lose back-to-back league games for the first time since August 2025, which tends to sharpen a team’s focus on defense.

One Fun Streak to Know

City have won each of their last 10 league matches on Halloween, and their 15 wins on October 31 are the most of any team in Football League history. It is a quirky stat rather than a predictor, but it adds a little spice to a match that already has plenty of storylines.

What to Watch

The big question is whether Saturday looks more like Wednesday’s wide-open 2-2 draw or a tighter league match between two sides keen to avoid a second straight setback. If you are tracking this market, keep an eye on the final team sheets, since a fully fit City attack and a Brighton side still short on firepower could shift the numbers quickly.
