Celtics vs. Raptors NBA Summer League Prediction: Boston’s Draft Class Meets a Deep Toronto Roster

The Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors close out the Cox Pavilion slate on Friday with a 9:00 p.m. ET tip on ESPN, another entry on Day 2 of NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. As always with Summer League, this is a development showcase rather than regular-season basketball, with both rosters built around second-year prospects, draft picks and two-way hopefuls rather than established veterans. Boston brings its two 2026 draft picks into the fold, while Toronto counters with a deep, 16-player roster built to evaluate a wide range of fringe talent.

What to Watch Instead of a Betting Line

Betting markets for this particular Summer League matchup remain limited as of Friday morning, which is typical for games this early in the Las Vegas schedule. Fans looking for more robust markets should check Live NBA Odds as the summer progresses toward training camp and preseason lines open up. For now, this game is more about individual development tracks than a bettable line.

Celtics’ Draft Class Meets a Deep Raptors Roster

Boston’s Summer League roster is built around second-year guard Hugo Gonzalez, the only player on the roster who started a game for the Celtics last season after appearing in 73 games as a rookie. He’s joined by Boston’s two 2026 draft selections, first-round big man Chris Cenac Jr. out of Houston and second-round guard Dillon Mitchell out of St. John’s. Cenac, a 6-foot-11, 240-pound forward, gives the Celtics a long-term developmental prospect at center, while Mitchell adds athleticism and rebounding on the wing. The roster also features Amari Williams, the 7-footer who averaged productive minutes as a rookie a year ago, along with veteran depth pieces like Tucker DeVries, Milos Uzan and Kyle Mangas, all trying to carve out a role in Boston’s system or elsewhere in the league.

Toronto brings one of the larger and more varied rosters in the entire event, headlined by second-round pick Jaden Bradley out of Arizona, who signed a two-way contract and should see extended run throughout the Raptors’ Summer League schedule. Allen Graves, the No. 19 overall pick out of Santa Clara, is another name to watch after averaging 11.8 points and 6.5 rebounds in his lone collegiate season. Jamarion Sharp, a 7-foot-5 undrafted free agent out of Ole Miss who won G League Defensive Player of the Year with the Texas Legends, adds a unique rim-protecting element to Toronto’s frontcourt. The Raptors also have Collin Murray-Boyles on the roster after his rookie NBA season, though it remains to be seen how much he’ll actually play given his standing on the depth chart, along with Alijah Martin, who inked a standard two-year deal after a productive two-way campaign.

Both rosters feature a mix of legitimate prospects and organizational filler, but Toronto’s sheer depth of interesting names, from Bradley to Sharp to Graves, gives the Raptors more paths to a standout individual performance on a given night.

Prediction and Best Bet

Boston’s roster is smaller in scope but features a genuine first-round talent in Cenac and a proven scorer in Gonzalez building on real rookie-year experience. Toronto counters with more overall depth and intriguing role players, but less top-end talent. This one should be tightly contested given the relatively even mix of experience on both sides.

  • Prediction: Boston Celtics 86, Toronto Raptors 82
  • Best Bet: Boston Celtics -1.5 (where available)

Gonzalez’s returning experience as an actual Celtics rotation piece last season gives Boston a rare advantage in a Summer League setting where most players are complete rookies to the pro game. That edge, even in a close contest, should be enough to get Boston over the top.
