Broncos vs. Chargers: 2 Player Props and Best Bet for Thursday Night Football

Week 16 of the NFL season kicks off with an AFC West rivalry between the Broncos and the Chargers on Thursday Night Football. Get our player props and best bet below. Best of luck, folks!

Playoff Berth is on the Line!

Thursday night this week features a battle between 2 teams fighting to stay in wild card sports in the AFC. Both the Denver Broncos (9-5) and the Los Angeles Chargers (8-6) find themselves a couple of games above the Colts, Dolphins, and Bengals for 2 of the 3 wildcard spots.

The Broncos are coming into this contest on a 4-game winning streak. They have won their games by an average of 17.25ppg. Rookie QB, Bo Nix, has tossed 10 touchdowns compared to the 5 INTs during this stretch and his favorite target, Courtland Sutton has caught 3 touchdowns and compiled over 300 yards. This offense has improved as the season has gone on and now find themselves in the top 10 in scoring (24ppg). On the defensive side, they are tied for 1st in the league, allowing just 17.6ppg. The team they are tied with, are these Chargers.

It is odd to think about a Chargers team being known for their defense, which is the case this season. In recent history, it has always been their high-powered offense that has led the way. However, the culture that HC Jim Harbaugh has brought in, has changed the way this team operates.

While things had been going great in LA through the 1st ten games of the season (7-3), the tide has changed over their last 4 games. Losers of 3 of their last 4, including back-to-back losses to KC and TB, have left many worried that this is the beginning of a freefall for the Chargers. Especially after the 40 spot they gave up in the loss to the Bucs last week.

Best Bet: Broncos +2.5

The Broncos are surging, and the Chargers are fading, but the oddsmakers still have the Chargers as a short home favorite here. Short being the optimal word here.

We have seen this line fall from -4.5 down to -2.5 and we believe that this is justified in the way these teams have been playing. The Chargers defense has shown holes recently where Denver has not and that will be the difference.

Key Trends:

  • Denver is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games.
  • Denver is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games on the road.
  • Denver is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games against an opponent in the AFC West division.

Prop Play Leans:

  • Gus Edwards Anytime TD: +175 FanDuel
  • Bo Nix OVER 223.5 Passing Yards: -115 FanDuel
