3 NFL Passing Props to Back This Sunday: Burrow, Goff, and Prescott Overs to Target in Week 1

Week 1 always feels like a guessing game, except when it comes to the guys under center who spent all offseason getting healthy and getting reps. Three of the league’s most established passers open their 2026 seasons Sunday in spots that scream “over,” and the numbers back it up before you even get to the vibes.

Joe Burrow, Jared Goff, and Dak Prescott are all a full year (or more) removed from the injuries and inconsistency that dogged parts of recent seasons, and each one lands in a matchup where the opposing pass defense either took a real step back or simply isn’t built to slow down this level of quarterback play. Here’s the why behind all three.

Joe Burrow Is Back and the Bucs Secondary Is the Perfect Re-Entry Point

Burrow’s 2025 season ended after just two quarters of football. He suffered a Grade 3 turf toe injury against Jacksonville in Week 2, needed surgery, and didn’t return until Thanksgiving Day at Baltimore. Even in that limited eight-game sample, he threw for 1,809 yards and 17 touchdowns against just five interceptions — a 100.7 passer rating. And once healthy down the stretch, he was terrifying: 309 yards and four touchdowns on Miami in Week 16, four more touchdown passes the following week at Buffalo. The talent never left. He just didn’t have the runway.

Now he does. This is the same Burrow who led the entire NFL with 4,918 yards and 43 touchdowns in 2024, and heading into 2026 his season-long passing total is set at 4,099.5 — a co-favorite mark alongside Goff and Prescott for the league lead. That tells you how the market views his health and his ceiling. If you want to shop that number, DraftKings and other sportsbook reviews on our site break down where the best props markets currently sit.

The matchup helps his case for Sunday specifically. Tampa Bay’s pass defense finished 2025 ranked 27th in the league, allowing 238.2 yards per game through the air, and while Pro Football Focus has the Bucs secondary rated better entering 2026 (No. 15 overall, elite at limiting penalties and generating pressure), that unit still gave up plenty of yardage volume last year. With Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins both healthy and available, Burrow has his full arsenal for the opener. FanDuel’s model projects him for 257 to 288 yards and 2.1 touchdowns in this spot, comfortably clearing the OVER 263.5 number for Sunday’s 1 p.m. ET kickoff at Paycor Stadium.

Jared Goff Draws a Saints Defense Breaking In New Faces at the Back End

Goff was one of the most consistent passers in football in 2025, throwing for 4,564 yards and 34 touchdowns, and Detroit’s offense showed no signs of slowing as it heads into 2026. The Lions’ passing attack ranks among the league’s best on a per-game basis, and Goff enters Week 1 fully healthy with his top targets — Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Jahmyr Gibbs out of the backfield — all good to go.

New Orleans’ pass defense was a genuine surprise last season, finishing fourth in the league at just 179.2 yards allowed per game under new coordinator Brandon Staley. But that unit is losing significant pieces for 2026: longtime pass rusher Cameron Jordan and linebacker Demario Davis are gone, and cornerback Alontae Taylor — one of the more reliable pieces of that secondary rotation — also left in the offseason. That’s a lot of proven production to replace against a Lions offense that should lean on the pass early with the Saints’ front seven still finding its footing in Week 1.

The number reflects a competitive, high-scoring environment: Detroit is favored by a touchdown with the game total sitting around 49.5, and bettors using a DraftKings promo code can find that number priced across multiple books. FanDuel’s model has Goff projected for 250 to 278 yards and roughly two touchdowns, while other market projections have him closer to 284. Either way, that clears the OVER 265.5 (also available at 263.5 depending on the book) comfortably for the 1 p.m. ET game at Ford Field.

Dak Prescott Gets a Prime-Time Spot Against a Giants Defense Ranked Outside the Top 15

Prescott closes out the opening Sunday slate on Sunday Night Football, and this is arguably the softest matchup of the three. New York’s pass defense finished 2025 ranked 16th in the league at 214.2 yards allowed per game — respectable, but not the kind of unit that consistently takes away a top-tier passing offense. Dallas, meanwhile, ranked second in the NFL in passing yards per game a season ago (266.3), and Prescott is fully healthy after a strong finish to last season that included a 307-yard, two-touchdown effort against Washington in Week 17.

Multiple model projections have Prescott landing right around this number — FanDuel’s sits at 260.7 yards, while other market models push him closer to 267. The game odds support a competitive, pass-heavy script: Dallas is favored by 2.5 points with a game total near 48.5, and the -113/-111 juice on the OVER 260.5 reflects a genuinely close call that still tilts in the offense’s favor given the volume Dallas typically asks of Prescott. Kickoff is 8:20 p.m. ET at MetLife Stadium, an outdoor venue but with no significant weather concerns currently expected for the night game.

Lock These In for Week 1

All three of these passers are healthy, all three have their top weapons available, and all three drew defenses that either regressed or are replacing key personnel heading into the opener. That’s the recipe for a strong Week 1 slate on the passing props market, and if you’re looking to build a same-game parlay or a straight teaser, these are the numbers to build around.

  • Joe Burrow OVER 263.5 passing yards vs. Tampa Bay (1 p.m. ET, Paycor Stadium)
  • Jared Goff OVER 265.5 passing yards vs. New Orleans (1 p.m. ET, Ford Field)
  • Dak Prescott OVER 260.5 passing yards (-113) @ New York Giants, SNF (8:20 p.m. ET, MetLife Stadium)

Check the live NFL odds for the latest lines before kickoff, since numbers can shift throughout the week, but the matchup logic behind all three of these overs should hold up regardless of small line movement.
