Top DFS Value Picks for NFL Week 5
With Week 5 upon us, finding the best DFS value picks is key to building a winning lineup. It’s a balance between overpaying and getting the most FP for your lineup.
This week’s matchups offer several players who bring solid fantasy upside at affordable price points.
Let’s break down some of the top choices that can help you max out the value without blowing through your DFS salary cap.
Geno Smith — Seattle Seahawks — QB
- Salary: $5.9k
- Projected Fantasy Points: 19.6
- Value: 3.32
Geno Smith has been delivering consistent performances. At $5.9k, he’s a great option to save salary while maintaining solid fantasy upside.
Last week, Smith put up 19.6 fantasy points. This was mostly due to a heavy passing volume. The Seahawks QB threw a career-high 56 pass attempts, amassing 395 yards against a tough Lions defense. That’s just insane!
In Week 5, Smith faces a New York Giants defense that allows the third-highest completion percentage in the league (72.6%).
While it’s unlikely Smith will need to throw nearly as much this week, the Giants’ leaky secondary could give him a great opportunity to keep his strong numbers going.
With a DvP ranking of 13th against QBs, the Giants aren’t exactly what we’d a good defense. Expect Smith to continue his efficient passing game and provide great DFS value, especially if Seattle builds a lead and continues their air attack.
Even with the potential for fewer pass attempts, Smith’s $5.9k salary is an absolute bargain given his 19.4-point average over the last five weeks. If you’re looking for a cost-efficient QB who can hit 20 points, Smith is your guy.
Kyren Williams — Los Angeles Rams — RB
- Salary: $7.6k
- Projected Fantasy Points: 20.2
- Value: 2.66
Kyren Williams continues to serve as the workhorse for the Rams, and at $7.6k, he offers a solid combination of volume and efficiency.
Last week, he rushed for 94 yards and scored yet another touchdown. This brings his season total to six. Williams’ ability to find the end zone has been a constant this year, making him a reliable RB1 option in Week 5. On top of that, if you’re into sports betting, we highly recommend picking Williams for an anytime touchdown bet as well.
The matchup against Green Bay might not be ideal for him.
The Packers rank third in defensive EPA against the run, so Williams could struggle to find the same efficiency he had last week.
However, with five of the top 20 running backs on a bye (yup, it’s that time of year), the volume alone keeps Williams in RB1 consideration.
Even if the Rams lean more on the passing game, Williams’ involvement in the offense (20+ touches per game) gives him a safe floor for DFS.
Williams’ salary is a bit on the higher side. While we’re not a big fan of his $7.6k price tag, the opportunity to score makes him worth the investment.
While a ceiling game might be tough against Green Bay’s stout run defense, he should still deliver a solid 15-20 points.
Jordan Whittington — Los Angeles Rams — WR
- Salary: $4.6k
- Projected Fantasy Points: 12.8
- Value: 2.78
Jordan Whittington took on a WR1 role for the Rams in Week 4, and it looks like that role could stick — at least for a while.
In his first full game as a starter, Whittington saw a 27.6% target share, securing 12.8 fantasy points on six catches for 78 yards. At just $4.6k, he’s one of the top-value picks at the wide receiver position. That’s an absolute steal on the FP.
Whittington’s matchup against Green Bay in Week 5 is looking good as well.
The Packers have allowed the 13th-most receiving yards to perimeter receivers, and their secondary has been giving up fantasy points consistently. Green Bay’s defensive scheme plays into Whittington’s strengths, as they use the 11th-highest single-high coverage in the league, and Whittington leads the Rams with a 30% target per route run rate against this scheme.
Expect Whittington to be heavily involved again, as Stafford has shown he’s not afraid to throw his way.
Sure, he’s still building chemistry with Stafford, but at his price, Whittington offers incredible value.
He has the potential to lead the Rams in targets again, making him a great budget-friendly WR2 or flex option for your DFS lineup.
Tucker Kraft — Green Bay Packers — TE
- Salary: $3.5k
- Projected Fantasy Points: 8.1
- Value: 2.31
Tight ends can be hard to nail down in DFS, but Tucker Kraft is worth a look at an affordable $3.5k. That’s pocket change in the DFS market.
He’s stepping into a more prominent role for the Packers and made the most of his opportunity last week with six catches for 53 yards and a touchdown. If you know how the Packers work, you’ll know that they love to spread the love around the field.
Kraft’s rapport with Jordan Love seems to be growing, which is key for DFS.
While a late-game fumble in Week 4 hurt his team’s comeback attempt, his nine targets and a crucial two-point conversion grab show that Love trusts him in key moments.
With the Packers’ receiving corps banged up, expect Love to look Kraft’s way again in Week 5 against a Rams defense ranked 23rd in fantasy points allowed to tight ends.
Kraft is not only cheap but also has the potential for another solid 8-10 fantasy points, giving you plenty of salary relief.
His ceiling isn’t the highest, but he could easily outperform his price tag, making him a strong punt play at tight end. After all, we don’t typically look at TEs to snag us 20+ FP so this isn’t a bad bet.
Add These DFS Value Picks To Your Week 5 Lineup!
Geno Smith, Kyren Williams, Jordan Whittington, and Tucker Kraft offer a blend of value and upside that can help round out your DFS lineup this week.
Before you say anything, we know that 3 of the 4 DFS value picks came from the LA Rams and Green Bay Packers matchup, but we just call it like we see it. This is completely objective as these are the highest-valued players for their positions in the market.
Smith’s low price and favorable matchup make him a great play at QB, while Williams’ volume keeps him relevant despite a tough matchup. Whittington and Kraft are the cheaper picks, both set for prominent roles in their offenses with great matchups.
Plug these Week 5 DFS value picks into your lineups and watch the points roll in without emptying your salary cap.
