Timberwolves vs Thunder Predictions: Underdog DFS Slip for Game 5

Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals is officially here! The Minnesota Timberwolves looked like they were going to even the series during Game 4, but the Oklahoma City Thunder proved to be too dominant, beating them in an instant classic.

Some people believe that the wind is out of the Timberwolves’ sails, that they are dead and already looking towards the 2025-2026 season, seeing that they are down 3-1. Will that be the case tonight? Or will they force a Game 6, heading back to Minnesota and giving themselves more chances to get to their first NBA Finals?

We’ll soon find out. For now, let’s get into our favorite Underdog player props from tonight’s action, hoping to sweep the board after hitting two of our three picks from last night’s game!

Anthony Edwards OVER 27.5 Points

Anthony Edwards should have been on a milk carton for most of Game 4, because he was non-existent for the Timberwolves outside of the fourth quarter. He’s a superstar, but he hasn’t always played like it throughout the playoffs, and the Wolves need him to show up tonight if they want any chance of winning this game.

The Thunder have too many scoring weapons of their own, and if Edwards doesn’t go off, things aren’t looking too good for Minnesota. We think he’s going to help force a Game 6, which is why we’re taking the over on his point total in this one.

Chet Holmgren OVER 24.5 Points, Rebounds & Assists

Chet Holmgren has been very impressive throughout the playoffs. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander might get a lot of the credit when they win, and for good reason, but Holmgren can certainly hold his own when it matters most.

He’s been a stable force for this team in every category, including points, rebounds, and assists. Holmgren has had at least 25 PRA in three of his past four games, and he’s not showing any signs of slowing down now.

The Wolves don’t have much of an answer for him on defense, and for that reason, we’re taking the over on his PRA total until he puts up a bad night.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander OVER 8.5 Made Three Throws

We hate to call him the free-throw merchant, but if the shoe fits… Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has made at least nine free throws in three of four games this series, putting up double-digit numbers in those three games.

He finds ways to get to the line, and because he shot nearly 90% from the line during the regular season, we’re betting that he’ll have another big night from the line. NBA fans might not like it, but it’s the reality of his game.
