Thursday Night Football: Our Best Bets for Raiders at Rams

The Las Vegas Raiders are fighting to get back into the AFC Wildcard race. They’ll hit the highway to take on a Los Angeles Rams team that is quickly bottoming out due to injuries. It remains to be seen who will be under center for the Rams in this one.

Las Vegas Raiders @ Los Angeles Rams

The Raiders have finally seemed to find their stride and are very much still alive in the playoff race. They are currently on a 3-game win streak after their latest win over the Chargers last week at home. During this streak, the Carr/Adams connection has combined for 22 receptions, 392 yards, and 4 touchdowns.

Even more significantly, Josh Jacobs has emerged as the leading rusher in the league. He has averaged 160 yards and a touchdown per game during this same stretch.

The Rams have been on the opposing side of streaks. They have lost 6 straight games and have lost Cooper Kupp and Matt Stafford along the way. Their loss last week at home against the Rams was a letdown, as they led 23-20 with just 3 minutes remaining.

They allowed Geno Smith to lead a game-winning drive in the final minute. Despite the loss, the Rams did a great job on the ground as they racked up over 170 yards. Cam Akers was the lead dog as he went for 60 yards on 17 carries and 2 touchdowns.

Best Bet: Rams +6.5

Best Available Odds: -104 at FanDuel

While things have seemed bleak for the Rams, the one good factor has been the effect all of this has had on the run game. McVay is forced to pound the rock and utilize the underused Cam Akers. Newly-signed Rams QB Baker Mayfield may play tonight, but even if he does, the Rams will still lean heavily on their ground game.

The Rams have the ability to run the ball and a defense that is coming off a game where they held the Seahawks to just 20 points through almost the entire game. They also held KC the week prior to just 26 points. We believe the Rams are in a spot to catch the riding-high Raiders off-guard and cover this number.

Key ATS Trends

Vegas is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games after accumulating more than 350 total yards in their previous game.
Vegas is 3-13 ATS in their last 16 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.
LAR is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings.

Best Bet: UNDER 43.5

Best Available Odds: -107 at PointsBet

The Rams’ defense is going to be what tells the story of this game, and we believe they will be stout. The Raiders will have their scoring opportunities limited and keep this number low.

If the total is predicated upon the Rams’ offense, then certainly, this will be low. Look for a spirited effort from the Rams’ defense and their anemic offense to keep this one under the total.

Key Over/Under Trends:

UNDER is 7-1 in Rams last 8 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
UNDER is 5-1 in Rams last 6 games after accumulating more than 150 yards rushing in their previous game.
UNDER is 7-1 in Raiders last 8 games after allowing less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game.
