Rays vs Guardians ALCS Game 4 SGP: Guardians +1.5, Under 6.5 and Nick Martinez 3+ Strikeouts

Saturday night brings the lone game on the MLB board, and it is a big one: Game 4 of the American League Championship Series, with the Cleveland Guardians leading the Tampa Bay Rays 2-1. First pitch is 8:00 PM ET at Progressive Field after Friday’s game was rained out, the first postseason postponement in the ballpark’s history. If you are new to same game parlays, this is a friendly place to start, because the story of the night is easy to explain.

A same game parlay (SGP) ties several bets from one game into a single ticket, and every leg has to win for the ticket to cash. Our build today is a game-script parlay: Guardians +1.5 on the run line, Under 6.5 total runs, and Nick Martinez to record 3 or more strikeouts. Odds move quickly, so check your book before you build it.

Guardians +1.5: Buying Insurance on a Close Game

The run line is baseball’s version of a point spread, and it is almost always set at 1.5 runs. When you take a team at +1.5, they can lose by one run and your bet still wins. The Rays are slight road favorites on the moneyline (roughly -112 to -115 depending on the book, with the Guardians around -105), so the market sees this as nearly a coin flip. Hard Rock Bet listed the Guardians +1.5 at -195, which is a heavy price on its own, but that is the point of using it as a parlay leg: it is the safer piece that cushions the ticket.

Cleveland has plenty of reasons to hang around. The Guardians won Game 3, 3-2, behind a strong start from Gavin Williams and a bullpen that protected a one-run lead, with Petey Halpin’s clutch homer deciding it. These two teams have been playing tight games, and a one-run margin either way is very live. Cleveland is also at home, where it can lean on its relievers late.

Under 6.5 Total Runs: A Bullpen Game on a Cool Night

A total is the combined runs both teams score, and you bet on whether the final number lands over or under the line. The line for this game is 6.5, with the Under priced around -105 at Hard Rock (some books show it closer to -110). The betting splits show the public leaning Over, with 63 percent of bets on it, which makes the Under a nice contrarian read.

Several things point toward fewer runs. Cleveland plans to open with Shawn Armstrong, who has not allowed a run this postseason and has struck out five in 5 1/3 innings, then turn to a bullpen game expected to include Cantillo, Bibee and Cecconi. Armstrong’s total outs line sits at just 3.5 at BetMGM, so the plan is clearly short and sharp. Game-day temperatures in Cleveland were listed around 49 degrees, and cool air tends to keep fly balls from carrying. Wind direction can change by first pitch, so check the forecast before you bet.

Nick Martinez 3+ Strikeouts: The Pitcher Leg

The third leg is about the Rays’ starter. Nick Martinez went 15-6 with a 3.10 ERA this season and has been tough on this exact Guardians lineup, throwing 13 scoreless innings across two regular-season starts against them. His postseason record is a more modest 0-0 with a 4.91 ERA, but he has cleared 2.5 strikeouts in 7 of his last 8 road games and averaged nearly four strikeouts per away start.

Martinez is a pitch-to-contact righty, so he will not pile up huge strikeout totals, which is why the line is only 2.5. At sportsbooks the Over 2.5 has been listed around +130, while prediction markets like Kalshi and Polymarket priced 3+ strikeouts at roughly 45 to 47 percent. For beginners, that is a nice, modest target: three strikeouts is a number he can reach even in a four- or five-inning outing. Pairing it with a low-scoring game makes sense because an efficient Rays starter keeps both the strikeout count up and the scoring down.

The Full Parlay

Here is the ticket: Guardians +1.5, Under 6.5 total runs, and Nick Martinez 3+ strikeouts. The story is simple. Martinez gets through the Guardians’ order a couple of times and collects his strikeouts, both bullpens do their jobs, and the game stays tight and low scoring, with Cleveland either winning or losing by just one run. Every leg fits the same script.

A few cautions for first-timers. Sportsbooks often price correlated legs lower than straight multiplication, so the payout may be smaller than you expect, and I could not confirm a combined price, so check your book for the final number. A single swing, like a three-run homer, can break both the total and the run line at once. Use the betting calculator to see what a parlay pays before you place it, and only risk what you can afford to lose.
