Prediction Markets Diverge From Sportsbooks on UFC Fight Night and MLB’s Blue Jays-Red Sox, Diamondbacks-Nationals

Prediction markets are giving bettors a fresh way to gauge sentiment on this weekend’s biggest sports storylines, and right now the gaps between those markets and traditional sportsbooks are telling their own story. From a coin-flip UFC main card fight to a Fenway Park pitching duel, the numbers show where the smart money is leaning — and where it isn’t.

A UFC Co-Main That’s Splitting the Markets

The tightest line on the entire UFC Fight Night card in Abu Dhabi belongs to the welterweight bout between Islam Dulatov and Wellington Turman, and the disagreement between markets is the real headline. Prediction markets have this one nearly even, with Dulatov at 51.5% and Turman at 48.5%. Sportsbooks see it very differently, pricing Dulatov as high as -900 with Turman out to +600 — an implied split closer to 90/10. That’s an unusually wide gap for a fight with no head-to-head history to lean on.

The tape backs the sportsbook lean. Dulatov, 27, enters at 12-1-0 with seven finishes by knockout or TKO and five by submission — zero decisions in his entire pro career. He throws 8.78 significant strikes per minute at 54% accuracy and lands takedowns at an 85% clip while stuffing 85% of what’s attempted against him. Turman, 30, is 18-8-0 but arrives off a second-round submission loss to Jared Gooden and owns a shaky 43% takedown defense. If you’re new to comparing markets against a book’s number, a quick look at the live UFC odds page is a good gut-check before any wager.

The Lopsided Lightweight Prelim Nobody’s Ignoring

Buried on the prelims but carrying the single biggest 24-hour trading volume of any sports market tracked this week is Mike Davis versus Nurullo Aliev. Prediction markets have all but written Davis off, pricing Aliev at 98.5%. Sportsbooks, interestingly, are less extreme — a 7-book consensus has Aliev at 63% to Davis’s 37%, with money still trickling toward the unbeaten Tajik fighter.

Aliev is 11-0-0 (3-0-0 in the UFC) and wins mostly by decision, grinding out nine of his 11 career victories that way. Davis, despite three losses, still owns real power: 67% of his 12 career wins have come by knockout or TKO, and none of his three losses came by strikes. That combination — a heavy betting underdog who has never been hurt on the feet — is exactly the kind of split that makes prelims worth watching instead of skipping.

Fenway Sets the Stage for a Pitching Showcase

Over in Boston, the Blue Jays and Red Sox meet at Fenway Park in a game that’s essentially a coin flip on prediction markets — Toronto sits at 50.5%, Boston at 49.5% — despite both clubs sitting outside the postseason picture. The appeal here is entirely about who’s on the mound.

Dylan Cease takes the ball for Toronto sporting a 2.67 ERA and 155 strikeouts across 104.1 innings, and his July form has been elite — a 1.29 ERA that ranks third in the American League, with the right-hander stretching deeper into starts recently. Boston counters with Sonny Gray, who’s been arguably better all season: 12-1 with a 2.48 ERA and just one earned run or fewer allowed in six of his last eight outings. Offensively, Willson Contreras leads the Red Sox with 22 home runs and a .293 average, while Kazuma Okamoto has matched that homer total for Toronto despite hitting just .224. Anyone tracking this one closer should check the live MLB odds before first pitch, since lines like this tend to move as lineups are confirmed.

Washington’s Breakout Arm Draws a Real Edge

The other MLB market drawing attention is Diamondbacks-Nationals, where prediction markets favor Washington at 58.5% to Arizona’s 41.5% — and sportsbooks agree, with the Nationals at -147. Foster Griffin has quietly been one of the better stories in the National League, sitting at 11-2 with a 2.68 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP across 117.1 innings. Arizona counters with Mitch Bratt, who’s making just his second career MLB start after posting a 5.06 ERA in a small sample.

The Diamondbacks have won four of their last five games, including blowout wins over St. Louis and Oakland, and Ketel Marte remains a legitimate power threat with 18 home runs. But Washington’s James Wood (28 homers, .270 average) and CJ Abrams (.544 slugging percentage) give the Nationals lineup real thump against a starter still finding his footing at the highest level, which lines up with why the market favors the home team even though Arizona holds the better overall record.

What the Market Gaps Actually Mean

The most useful thing about watching prediction markets alongside sportsbooks isn’t picking a winner — it’s spotting where the two disagree. The UFC main card fight is the clearest example this week: a near-even prediction market against a heavily lopsided sportsbook line usually means one side of the public is pricing in something the other isn’t, whether that’s recency bias, name recognition, or a genuine read on styles. Cross-referencing both before placing a bet, rather than trusting either number in isolation, remains the smartest approach for bettors chasing value rather than just chalk.
