3 Longshot Anytime Touchdown Scorers for NFL Week 1: Is There Value in Okonkwo?

Week 1 begins in just two nights, and here are three players to keep on your radar for anytime touchdown bets. In Washington, Brian Robinson is out, and 7th-round selection Jacory Croskey-Merritt is in, leading the backfield on Sunday against the New York Giants.

Elsewhere, expect Titans tight end Chig Okonkwo to become a favorite target for rookie Cam Ward against one of the best defenses in the league. Without further ado, our 3 best long shot anytime TD bets are presented below. Best of luck!

Jacory Croskey-Merritt (WAS) +340

JCM played just one game last season at the University of Arizona due to an odd suspension handed down by the NCAA. Before the transfer to ‘Zona, Croskey-Merritt, nicknamed ‘Bill, ’ had a great stretch at New Mexico and impressed in Washington training camp, ultimately leading to the departure of Brian Robinson Jr.

The Commanders face a Giants team whose offense still sits at the bottom of the NFL, leading to plenty of rushing opportunities for the rookie RB. After resting in his pre-season finale, all signs are indicating a big Week 1 role for the 7th rounder.

Rashid Shaheed (NO) +350

New Orleans is an underdog against the Arizona Cardinals, who have an improved defense, but still have questions at linebacker and cornerback. This is a perfect recipe for Shaheed, who scored four total touchdowns last season in just six outings, to make a Week 1 impact as the 2nd string wideout.

This should be a high-scoring game with Kyler’s rushing upside but inconsistent throwing, leading to plenty of offensive plays for New Orleans to work with.

Chig Okonkwo (TEN) +440

Okonkwo could be the deep sleeper that comes out of nowhere this season at the tight end position. Tennessee doesn’t have another player at the position to compete with their now fourth-year tight end, and with a rookie Quarterback playing in his first game away from home in Denver, the uber-athletic tight end might be his best friend.

Okonkwo only scored two TDs last season, with one coming in their opening game. With the Titans 7.5-point underdogs, this feels like it could be a heavy passing game for Ward with potential for a late-game garbage-time connection for this young QB/TE duo.
