FanDuel and GeoComply Renew Multi-Year Partnership for Geolocation and Compliance Technology

FanDuel Group and GeoComply have renewed their partnership with a new multi-year deal, extending a relationship between the two companies that stretches back thirteen years. The agreement keeps GeoComply’s geolocation, identity verification, and fraud prevention technology embedded across FanDuel’s entire product lineup, including its sportsbook, casino, and prediction markets offerings.

The renewal comes as FanDuel heads into another football season leaning on the same compliance infrastructure that helped it grow from a single legal state to more than two dozen states nationwide. For an industry built on strict state-by-state rules, geolocation and identity checks aren’t just back-office plumbing — they’re the foundation that lets an operator like FanDuel take real money bets at all.

What’s Actually Changing Under the Deal

Under the expanded agreement, FanDuel will continue relying on GeoComply’s identity verification and fraud prevention tools, including KYC checks, behavioral signals, and real-time fraud detection, to confirm customer eligibility and speed up account registration. GeoComply says it has processed billions of location checks for FanDuel with a 99.7% pass rate and 99.999% service availability, numbers the company touts even during high-traffic moments like Super Bowl weekend and simultaneous multi-state platform launches.

The new piece of the deal is staffing. GeoComply will assign dedicated, forward-deployed engineers directly to FanDuel’s product and operations teams rather than working purely as an outside vendor. That embedded setup is meant to deepen the use of location and device intelligence across FanDuel’s growing suite of products, not just its core sportsbook.

Why Geolocation Matters More Right Now

The timing lines up with a broader industry conversation about geolocation enforcement, particularly around prediction markets. FanDuel Predicts, the company’s sports trading product, currently restricts its markets to 18 states and relies on GeoComply’s technology to enforce those geographic boundaries. That stands in contrast to some prediction market operators that have run into geolocation disputes as they’ve expanded into states where sports betting itself remains unregulated.

FanDuel President Christian Genetski framed the renewal around trust, saying GeoComply has been an important partner in building a platform customers can rely on while operating with high standards of integrity and compliance. For bettors, the practical impact is mostly invisible — it’s the technology working correctly in the background every time someone opens the FanDuel app and it confirms they’re in a legal state before letting them place a wager on the NFL odds board or anywhere else on the platform.

The Bigger Picture

GeoComply’s footprint extends well beyond gaming, with geolocation and identity verification services across financial services, fintech, and media as well. But sports betting remains one of its highest-profile use cases precisely because the stakes for getting it wrong are so public — a compliance failure can mean fines, license risk, or a state regulator stepping in. A thirteen-year relationship renewing again signals that FanDuel, the largest sportsbook operator in the U.S., isn’t looking to change its approach to that risk anytime soon.
