Braves vs. Yankees Same Game Parlay: A Beginner’s Guide to Sunday’s Best Bet at Yankee Stadium

The Braves and Yankees wrap up their series Sunday at Yankee Stadium, and if you’ve never built a same game parlay before, this matchup is a great one to learn on. First pitch is 1:35 p.m. ET, with Grant Holmes taking the mound for Atlanta against Cam Schlittler for New York — and both pitchers give us something clean to build around.

A same game parlay just means combining multiple bets from the same game into one ticket. Every leg has to win for the parlay to cash, but because the sportsbook is factoring in how the legs relate to each other, the payout on a winning combo is bigger than betting each piece separately. Here’s a simple three-leg build for this one: Cam Schlittler going over 6.5 strikeouts, the game total going over 8.5 runs, and Luis Garcia Jr. recording a hit.

Leg 1: Cam Schlittler Over 6.5 Strikeouts

Schlittler has quietly been one of the better strikeout arms in the league this year, sitting at 10-6 with a 2.26 ERA and 171 strikeouts across 139.2 innings. That works out to well over a strikeout per inning, and it’s why his strikeout prop for this start is set at 6.5, priced at -120 on the over.

The matchup sets up in his favor. Atlanta has chased a fair amount this season, and Yankee Stadium tends to play as a pitcher-friendly park for strikeouts thanks to the backdrop and mound conditions hitters often mention. Six-plus punchouts is a very reachable number for a pitcher averaging more than a strikeout per frame all year.

Leg 2: Total Over 8.5 Runs

The total for this game has settled at 8.5, with the over available at close to even money (-102 at FanDuel, -105 at other books). Both of these lineups can score in bunches — Atlanta ranks among the more dangerous offenses in the National League, and the Yankees have plenty of thump in their own order with Ben Rice and company mashing all summer.

Grant Holmes has been solid overall (3.67 ERA) but has had stretches of giving up extra-base hits, and this series has already produced an 5-4 final in the opener. When two competent offenses face two pitchers without elite strikeout-to-walk numbers across the board, runs tend to find a way onto the board — that’s the case for taking the over here.

Leg 3: Luis Garcia Jr. 1+ Hit

Garcia Jr. is a fun storyline on his own — the NYC native landed with his hometown team and immediately grabbed the No. 26 jersey as a nod to Derek Jeter and Robinson Canó. Since stepping into the Yankees’ lineup, he’s gotten everyday at-bats between first base and DH, and a simple 1+ hit prop for an everyday player facing a middle-of-the-rotation starter is exactly the type of low-variance leg that helps a parlay without dragging down the payout much.

Adding a player prop like this to a total and a strikeout prop is a classic beginner-friendly combination — one macro bet (the total), one pitcher prop, and one simple hitter prop. It’s an easy structure to reuse on future MLB odds when you’re putting together your own parlays.

The Full Parlay

Putting it together: Cam Schlittler Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-120), Over 8.5 Runs (-102), and Luis Garcia Jr. 1+ Hit. None of these legs require a huge leap of faith on their own, which is exactly the point of a beginner same game parlay — you’re stacking a few likely outcomes together to boost the payout rather than reaching for a moonshot combination. If you want to shop the number, check your BetMGM or DraftKings app for the latest pricing before locking it in, since totals and props can move a few points closer to first pitch.
