Brandon Graham Retires From NFL for Good After 16 Seasons, Two Super Bowl Titles With Eagles

Brandon Graham is done, and this time he means it. The longest-tenured player in Philadelphia Eagles history announced Tuesday morning that he is retiring from the NFL, closing the book on a 16-season career that included two Super Bowl rings and one of the most iconic plays in franchise history. “I’m officially done,” Graham said at a Jefferson Health-sponsored “Breakfast with the Birds” event. “Y’all are hearing it from me first.”

The announcement caps an unusual two-act farewell. Graham first walked away following the Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX title in February 2025, capping a storybook run as a two-time champion across two different eras of Philadelphia football. But when Za’Darius Smith abruptly retired last October, Graham came out of retirement to answer the call, signing a one-year deal for a 16th NFL season. He appeared in nine games for the Eagles’ pass rush, recording eight tackles and three sacks before making his final decision to step away for good ahead of the 2026 season.

Selected 13th overall by the Eagles in the 2010 NFL Draft out of Michigan, Graham never played a single down for another team. He finishes with 79.5 career sacks, the third-most in franchise history behind only Reggie White and Trent Cole, to go along with 495 total tackles, 23 forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries across 215 games. His best individual season came in 2022, when he posted a career-high 11 sacks at age 34 while coming back from a torn Achilles the year before.

But no single number defines Graham’s legacy more than the strip-sack that will forever be replayed in Philadelphia. With the Eagles clinging to a lead over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots late in Super Bowl LII, Graham beat his blocker and stripped Brady of the ball, a play that all but sealed the franchise’s first Super Bowl title. Seven years later, Graham was on the roster again when the Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, giving him championships in two distinct eras of the organization he spent his entire career with.

Graham made clear his connection to the organization isn’t ending with his playing days. “I’m going to still be around… it’s an adjustment for me but it’s a great adjustment because it’s all about my kids and my family, trying to make sure I’m there for that and just spreading the love everywhere,” he said. He also offered a vote of confidence in the Eagles’ defensive front heading into the new season, pointing to interior lineman Jordan Davis as a player ready to anchor the unit going forward.

For a Philadelphia fan base that has watched Graham anchor the defensive line since the Andy Reid era gave way to Doug Pederson and then Nick Sirianni, the retirement closes a chapter that spans four head coaches and three distinct championship windows.
