Best NFL DFS Picks for Thursday Night Football: Seahawks vs. Broncos Showdown Value Plays

Thursday Night Football kicks off Week 6 with the Seattle Seahawks (3-2) visiting the Denver Broncos (3-2) at Empower Field at Mile High, with kickoff set for 8:15 p.m. ET on Prime Video. Seattle is a 2.5-point road favorite and the total sits around 40.5 to 42.5, which tells you oddsmakers expect a tight, lower-scoring game and a defensive tone from both sides.

That makes this single-game showdown slate a puzzle. With only two offenses to pull from and a Captain slot that multiplies both salary and points by 1.5x, the goal is to pair one or two premium anchors with value that does not need a touchdown to pay off. Here are five NFL DFS picks for Thursday Night Football, built around DraftKings showdown pricing, with FanDuel notes where they matter.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR — Seahawks ($11,600 DK)

Smith-Njigba is the most expensive flex on the board, and it is easy to see why. Through five games he has 37 catches for 583 yards and a team-best seven touchdowns, and he has posted 122, 155, 128, 76 and 102 receiving yards in order. Four of those five games cleared 90 yards, and his prop line sits at roughly 92.5 yards at the major sportsbooks.

He also gets a soft landing spot. Denver has ruled out All-Pro cornerback Patrick Surtain II with an ankle injury, and safety Talanoa Hufanga is out too. Starting corner Riley Moss is questionable with a rib injury after missing last week. A Broncos secondary this thin is a problem for any receiver, and Smith-Njigba is the one Sam Darnold looks for first.

The catch is ownership. He is the obvious Captain, so expect a heavy share of the field on him. In a showdown that is fine for cash lineups, but in tournaments you may want him at flex and a different Captain in the 1.5x slot.

Sam Darnold, QB — Seahawks ($9,800 DK)

Darnold has been a mixed bag since returning from injury. He has 755 passing yards, seven touchdowns and five interceptions on the season, and he is coming off a 32-29 loss to the 49ers in which he threw for 195 yards, one touchdown and two picks. Two games earlier he lit up Washington for 379 yards and four touchdowns, which shows the ceiling when the offense is humming.

The matchup is where the case gets strong. With Surtain out, Denver has far less ability to take away Smith-Njigba or to mask coverage busts downfield. Quarterbacks also tend to anchor showdown lineups, since they touch the ball on every drive and score through the air and on the ground. The turnover risk is real, so treat Darnold as a high-ceiling flex rather than a safe floor.

Emanuel Wilson, RB — Seahawks ($9,400 DK)

With Jadarian Price on injured reserve and Zach Charbonnet not being activated for this game, Wilson has been the lead back in Seattle’s offense. He carried 21 times for 81 yards and a touchdown and added three catches for 39 yards and a score against the Chargers, then ran 20 times for 61 yards and a touchdown against the 49ers. He handled all but four of the team’s running back carries in that game.

Denver has allowed the fourth-most rushing yards to opposing running backs this season, so volume plus matchup lines up cleanly. If you want a leverage play away from the chalk at wide receiver, Wilson works well as a Captain: the 1.5x multiplier on a 20-carry workload with goal-line chances carries a very high ceiling. One note of caution is that he lost a fumble last week, so ball security is worth watching.

Jaylen Waddle, WR — Broncos ($9,000 DK)

If you expect Denver to be chasing the game, Waddle is the cleanest way to get Broncos exposure. He leads the team with 6.2 targets per game, plays roughly 70% of the snaps, and ranks third on the team in red-zone target share. The Denver running game has struggled, which pushes more of the offense through Bo Nix and the passing game.

Seattle’s pass defense has been strong, so this is not a smash spot on paper. That is the point, though. Waddle should be owned at a lower rate than the Seahawks pass catchers, and a single long catch or touchdown can swing a showdown contest. He is the best contrarian Captain or bring-back option on the Denver side.

Cooper Kupp, WR — Seahawks ($3,200 DK)

Every showdown build needs a salary saver, and Kupp is the best one on DraftKings at just $3,200. He projects for about six points, which is roughly 1.9 points per $1,000, the highest value rating among the Thursday night options. On FanDuel he is priced at $7,600, which makes him less of a bargain there, so lean on him mostly for DraftKings lineups.

Kupp’s role is a short-area, high-percentage one, and that is a good fit for a game in which Seattle may want to move the ball efficiently and keep Denver’s offense off the field. Playing him lets you afford both Smith-Njigba and Wilson in the same lineup.

Building Your Lineup

On a two-team slate the cleanest approach is a Seattle-heavy core with one Denver bring-back. A Darnold and Smith-Njigba stack is the most natural pairing, and adding Wilson gives you a second path to points if Seattle leans on the ground game. From there, Waddle works as the Denver bring-back, since he is the one Broncos pass catcher with a reliably large target share.

Salary is the real constraint. Smith-Njigba, Darnold and Wilson together eat up a big chunk of the $50,000 cap, so Kupp at $3,200 and a cheap kicker or defense are what make the math work. Weather could add a small wrinkle too: forecasts call for a chilly night in Denver with a chance of light rain and a bit of wind, which can nudge scoring down. Late scratches matter on a short week, so confirm the inactives before lock.
