Sabres vs. Maple Leafs Same-Game Parlay: A Beginner-Friendly 4-Leg Build for Oct. 15

Two Atlantic Division teams stuck in the same spot meet in Toronto on Thursday night. The Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Maple Leafs are both 3-3-1 with seven points, and puck drop at Scotiabank Arena is set for 7:00 p.m. ET. Both clubs have been trading goals early in the season, which makes this an easy game to build a same-game parlay around if you are new to the format.

Here is the idea: stack four legs that all point toward the same kind of night, a lively, Toronto-friendly game with plenty of goals and the Leafs’ top power-play players getting involved. The legs are the Maple Leafs on the moneyline, Over 6.5 total goals, Auston Matthews to record a point, and John Tavares to record a point. Odds move through the day, so confirm every price at your sportsbook before you bet.

Leg 1: Maple Leafs Moneyline

If you have never built a parlay, the moneyline is the simplest bet there is: pick the team that wins the game, however they do it. Toronto is a slight home favorite at around -120, with Buffalo at about +100, so oddsmakers see this as close to a coin flip with a small edge for the home side.

That small edge is worth leaning on. Buffalo has leaked goals, allowing 26 through seven games while scoring 19, and the Sabres are still looking for a road win at 0-1-1 away from home this season. Toronto is not a lock, but using the moneyline instead of the puck line (Toronto -1.5) keeps this leg far less demanding for a beginner-friendly ticket.

Leg 2: Over 6.5 Total Goals

A total is simply a bet on how many goals both teams score combined. The number here is 6.5, so you need seven or more for the Over to cash. Prices sit around -114 to -122 depending on the book, which tells you the market already expects a high-scoring night.

The recent results back that up. The Over has hit in four straight Maple Leafs games, and Buffalo has played in back-to-back high-scoring games, a 5-3 win over Florida and a 4-3 shootout loss to Montreal. Neither team is playing tight, defense-first hockey right now, and goaltending has been shaky: Bobrovsky is sitting on a .907 save percentage and Luukkonen on a .850. Leg 3: Auston Matthews to Record a Point

A “to record a point” prop pays out if a player scores a goal or picks up an assist at any point in the game. It is one of the friendliest player props for beginners because there are two ways to win it. Matthews has been the Leafs’ most reliable producer: five goals and seven assists for 12 points through seven games, with a five-game point streak after a power-play goal and an assist on Tuesday.

He also leads Toronto with 25 shots, about 3.6 per game, so he is constantly in position to score or set someone up. Books have his anytime goal at around +125, so a point prop, which also counts assists, should come at a shorter price. Check your book for the exact number.

Leg 4: John Tavares to Record a Point

Tavares gives the parlay a second Toronto skater tied to the same top power-play unit as Matthews. The 36-year-old center scored a goal and added an assist, both on the power play, in Tuesday’s 5-4 loss, his first multi-point game of the season. He now has two goals, three assists and 17 shots on net through six appearances, after missing one game for the birth of his fourth child.

A Tavares point is a bit of a longer shot than a Matthews point, which is exactly why it works as a final leg: it adds value to the combined price without needing anything unusual to happen. If you need a place to bet, our DraftKings promo code page walks through the current new-user offer.

The Full Parlay

Put it together and the ticket reads: Maple Leafs moneyline, Over 6.5 total goals, Auston Matthews to record a point, and John Tavares to record a point. Because the legs all feed off the same story, a Toronto win in a high-scoring game with their top power-play players producing, the book will treat this as a correlated parlay, and some books will not let you combine certain legs at all. Check the combined odds in your bet slip rather than multiplying prices yourself.

The risk is real. Four legs means all four must hit, and one quiet night from the Leafs’ power play or a late Sabres push the wrong way sinks the ticket. Keep the stake small, treat it as entertainment, and use our betting calculator to see how the payout changes as you add or remove legs. Please bet responsibly and only with money you can afford to lose.
