Week 1 of the NFL season is finally here, and Sunday’s slate is loaded with quarterbacks who spent the offseason hearing they’d take a leap. Three of the league’s top passers are on the board this week with real chances to hit the ground running, and their passing yardage props stand out as the sharpest way to play it.
All three names below are set up by matchup, health, and recent history to clear their lines. Here’s the breakdown on why each one makes sense for your Sunday card.
Joe Burrow’s passing yards prop is set at 263.5 for Sunday’s 1 p.m. ET opener against the Buccaneers at Paycor Stadium, and the case for the over starts with his track record when healthy. Burrow led the NFL with 4,918 passing yards and 43 touchdowns in 2024 before a toe injury wiped out nine games of his 2025 season. When he did play last year, he averaged 289.3 passing yards per game — more than 25 yards clear of this line.
The matchup helps too. Tampa Bay’s secondary took a hit this offseason after losing cornerback Jamel Dean, leaving Zyon McCollum as the clear CB1 with unproven depth behind him. Bucs receiver Emeka Egbuka (toe) and Jalen McMillan (knee) both carry questionable tags into Week 1, which speaks to a Tampa Bay roster still settling in — not necessarily good news for a Bucs defense that needs everyone rowing the same direction to slow down Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. FanDuel’s model projects Burrow for 257-288 yards with 2.1 touchdowns in this spot, and even the low end of that range flirts with the number. Bengals fans hoping to score a DraftKings promo code to bet the opener have a clean angle here.
Jared Goff’s Week 1 passing yards line sits at 265.5 as the Lions host the Saints at 1 p.m. ET, and this one lines up almost perfectly with his recent workload. Goff threw for 4,564 yards last season — an average of 268.5 per game — comfortably clearing this number as a matter of routine. He enters 2026 as a co-favorite at +750 alongside Joe Burrow and Dak Prescott to lead the entire NFL in passing yards, with oddsmakers setting his full-season over/under at 4,099.5. To hit that mark, he only needs to average roughly 240 yards a game — well below what he’s shown he can do even in a tougher matchup.
New Orleans finished last season allowing close to 180 passing yards per game, and while defenses retool every offseason, the Saints haven’t added enough on the back end to suggest they’re suddenly going to shut down a Lions passing attack that features Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams. FanDuel’s Week 1 model has Goff projected for 250-278 yards and right around two touchdowns in this spot, both of which clear the current line. Detroit at home in the opener, with a full offseason to build continuity, is about as favorable a setup as Goff will see all year.
Dak Prescott closes out Week 1 on Sunday Night Football against the Giants at MetLife Stadium, with his passing yards prop set at 260.5 (-113 over / -111 under) as of the latest ESPN odds. Like Burrow and Goff, Prescott enters the season as a co-favorite at +750 for the NFL passing yards crown, and this matchup gives him a runway to start fast.
The Giants defensive front lost a major piece this offseason when defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence was traded away — ironically, to Cincinnati — leaving New York thinner up front even though the edge rush duo of Brian Burns and Abdul Carter remains a real threat off the ball. On the other side of the ball, New York’s offense is still figuring out its identity under center with Jaxson Dart, and star receiver Malik Nabers is working his way back from a torn ACL that required multiple surgeries, which likely limits how competitive this game stays if Dallas gets ahead. A Cowboys team playing with a lead in the second half tends to lean on Prescott’s arm rather than shut it down, and that game-flow path favors the over. All three of these quarterbacks are stepping into Week 1 with real reasons to trust the over, whether it’s recent per-game averages, a favorable matchup, or both. Here’s the full slate to target Sunday.
