3 MLB Strikeout Props to Back on September 2: Misiorowski, Cease, and Schlittler

The strikeout market is loaded on Wednesday’s MLB slate, with three power arms lined up against lineups that are practically built to swing and miss. Jacob Misiorowski is chasing a franchise strikeout record in Chicago, Dylan Cease is riding a nasty second half into Cleveland, and Cam Schlittler gets a dream matchup against a free-swinging Angels lineup in Anaheim. All three have the swing-and-miss stuff and the recent workload to clear their lines.

Here’s why each of these strikeout overs makes sense heading into first pitch, and how to build them into your card without overthinking it.

Jacob Misiorowski Over 7.5 Strikeouts (-118) vs. Cubs

Misiorowski has been the best strikeout arm in baseball this season, and it isn’t close. His 222 strikeouts in 151 innings lead all of MLB, and his 38.9% strikeout rate ranks second all-time behind only Gerrit Cole’s 2019 season. He’s averaging 8.9 punchouts per start in 2026, comfortably clearing this 7.5 line on a per-game basis, and he’s coming off a start against the Mets where he struck out six in six shutout innings.

The matchup lines up well too. Chicago’s lineup has struggled against high-velocity arms all year, and Misiorowski’s fastball still sits at the top of the league in velocity readings for a starter. With a 1.73 ERA and a microscopic 0.75 WHIP, he’s missing bats and limiting damage in the same start — exactly the profile that racks up strikeouts deep into games rather than getting pulled early. Books have priced this closer to a coinflip at -118, but the season-long rate says this should be shorter.

Dylan Cease Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-106) vs. Guardians

Cease has quietly turned in one of the best strikeout seasons of his career in Toronto, sitting at 217 strikeouts with a 2.33 ERA and a 36.1% strikeout rate. He’s averaging north of 8 strikeouts per start over his last 10 outings, and projection models have him going well past this line — one industry model has him projected for 8.6 strikeouts in this exact start, more than two whole strikeouts above the number.

Cleveland doesn’t scare anyone with contact skills, and Cease’s swing-and-miss slider has been elite against right-handed-heavy lineups like this one all season. At -106, this is close to a coinflip price on a pitcher whose 2026 average sits nearly two full strikeouts above the line. That’s the kind of gap that makes an over worth backing before the number moves.

Cam Schlittler Over 7.5 Strikeouts (-136) vs. Angels

Schlittler has been one of the best stories in the Yankees rotation this year, sitting at 201 strikeouts with a 2.09 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP across 28 starts. His 30.8% strikeout rate is right in line with a pitcher who just became the fourth-youngest arm in franchise history to reach 200 strikeouts in a season, joining a list that includes Luis Severino. In his last outing against Boston, he punched out eight hitters in just 5.2 innings.

The Angels lineup is exactly the kind of opponent that plays into this prop. Los Angeles chases pitches out of the zone at one of the higher rates in baseball, and free-swinging lineups are precisely where a pitcher with swing-and-miss stuff racks up strikeout totals in a hurry. Schlittler doesn’t need a complete game to clear 7.5 — he’s done it with fewer than six innings pitched multiple times this season. The -136 price reflects the public catching on, but the profile still supports it.

Lock These In

All three of these arms combine elite swing-and-miss stuff with matchups that play right into their strengths. None of them need a career night to clear their number — they just need a normal one, based on where their season rates already sit. For bettors still shopping lines, checking your live MLB odds before locking in is always worth the extra minute.

  • Jacob Misiorowski OVER 7.5 Strikeouts (-118)
  • Dylan Cease OVER 6.5 Strikeouts (-106)
  • Cam Schlittler OVER 7.5 Strikeouts (-136)

Three different teams, three different ballparks, but the same theme all night: swing-and-miss stuff meeting lineups built to provide it.
