Washington vs. Rutgers Betting Preview: Odds, Predictions, and Our Best Bet

We are BACK with another College Football Friday best bet for you guys! We cashed last week’s Illinois +9 and are looking to cash another one! We have two Friday night games, and with Hurricane Helene devastating Florida, I am going to stay away from that Miami game (leaning toward Miami spread for what it’s worth).

We have Washington in their first true road game traveling across the country to face Rutgers in what I expect to be a close battle! Both teams have started the season very solid and are looking to build on their momentum.

Both Offenses are Slow-Paced with Stout Defenses

Looking into this game, boy will it be an uphill battle for Washington to travel this far, in their first conference game, against a team that has been putting up very solid tape. The under is a play I am looking at here based on both offensive and defensive factors for both squads.

Rutgers offensive pace is 108, while Washington sits at 96th in the country. Rutgers likes to run the ball, over 60% of the time, which should play into a slower paced game. When we look at offensive explosive plays, Rutgers ranks 109, while Washington is 118, explosive plays create scoring drive!

Washington also likes to pass the ball and find explosive plays, which falls into the hands of Rutgers defense. Rutgers secondary is one of their top strengths and does not allow many explosive plays. If Washington can’t find explosive plays in the passing game this should fall right into the hands of a back-and-forth slow game.

Huskies Defense is Legit!

Washington’s defense on the other hand allows the 10th least points at 10 per game and will by far be the best defense Rutgers has seen yet! Rutgers defense is also top 30 in scoring, allowing just 15.7 per game and we have seen Washington struggle on offense.

Washington has averaged 24 points over their last 3 games, while Rutgers only tough test this season held them to 26. I believe this game will be in the 20’s, and would love to see a 23-20 game.

I do give the slight edge to Rutgers ML based on the travel requirements, but no question Washington is live to cover that spread and win outright as well! I normally try to keep the lines under -130, but I like this number too much and will take a little more juice for the win. Check out the bonus bets below and have a great weekend!

My Best Bet: Washington/Rutgers u46.5 (-130)

Bonus Bets:
Indiana -7 (-105) ESPNBet
UCF -13 (-130) ESPNBet
Alabama ML (+110) DraftKings
