Utah Mammoth vs. Flyers Same Game Parlay: Cooley, Martone and a Beginner-Friendly Build

Sunday afternoon hockey is a great place to learn how a same game parlay works, and Utah Mammoth at Philadelphia Flyers (4:00 p.m. ET at Xfinity Mobile Arena) gives us plenty to work with. The Mammoth are 9-5-0 and sit second in the Central. The Flyers are 3-8-4 and have lost three straight, including a 5-2 loss to Washington on Wednesday.

A same game parlay (SGP) simply combines several bets from one game into a single ticket, and every leg has to win for the ticket to cash. Utah is a road favorite at about -155 on DraftKings, with a game total of 6.5 goals. Odds move all day and goalies were not confirmed this morning (Sebastian Cossa and Dan Vladar are the names to watch), so check your book before you place anything. Here is a simple three-leg build, plus an optional fourth.

Leg 1: Utah Mammoth to Win

This is the easiest leg to understand: pick the team that wins the game, overtime and shootout included. Utah is the favorite for good reason. The Mammoth have won 13 of their last 19 road games and rank near the top of the league in high-danger shots per game.

Philadelphia, on the other hand, is struggling to generate offense. The Flyers rank near the bottom of the league in shots on goal per game and have allowed 4.7 goals a game during this losing streak. Utah’s goaltending has been shaky, so this is no lock, but a price of roughly -155 reflects a team that is simply better right now. Check your book for the current number.

Leg 2: Logan Cooley Over 1.5 Shots on Goal

Logan Cooley (No. 92) comes in hot after a hat trick on Thursday in Pittsburgh, where he scored three times on a team-high five shots in a 4-3 overtime win over the Penguins. He has seven goals and eight assists in 14 games this season and is projected to skate on the second line and the top power play unit alongside Nick Schmaltz, Clayton Keller, Dylan Guenther and Mikhail Sergachev.

A shots on goal prop is a good beginner bet because you do not need him to score. You only need him to put two pucks on net. The line is 1.5 shots, with the over priced around -170 at one book. That means it is a heavy favorite, which is exactly why it makes a sturdy anchor leg. It is easier to hit but pays less, so shop around for the best number.

Leg 3: Porter Martone Over 1.5 Shots on Goal

Now let’s take a Flyers player to balance the parlay. Winger Porter Martone (No. 94) has three goals and three assists in 15 games and has put 19 shots on net, which works out to a little over one per game. He is projected to skate on the first line and the first power play unit with Noah Cates and Matvei Michkov. He cleared a 1.5 shots line in his last game at Washington, but he has also fallen short on a couple of other nights, so this one carries real risk.

Philadelphia will likely be chasing the game at some point, and trailing teams usually fire more pucks. Dimers has flagged Martone as one of the shot props worth a look today. Check your book for his exact line and price, since not every book posts it the same way.

Optional Leg 4: Over 6.5 Total Goals

If you want a little more payout, the total is the simplest add. The game total is set at 6.5 goals, with the over listed near +114 on one book. The Mammoth have gone over the total in 9 of their last 12 games, and Philadelphia has been giving up goals in bunches during its skid. On the other hand, the Flyers’ offense is one of the weakest in the league, so this leg carries more risk. Treat it as the spicy extra.

If you are new to parlays, it helps to run the numbers in a betting calculator before you lock in a ticket, so you know exactly what you can win and what you are risking.

The Full Parlay

Putting it together, the ticket looks like this: Utah Mammoth moneyline, Logan Cooley over 1.5 shots on goal, and Porter Martone over 1.5 shots on goal, with the over 6.5 total as an optional fourth leg. Combined odds depend on the book, so check your book for the final price rather than assuming a simple multiplication of the individual legs.

The idea behind the build is simple. Utah is the better team, Cooley is a hot shooter in a strong lineup, and Martone gives you a Flyers player who should see plenty of ice time. Remember that the more legs you add, the harder it gets to cash, so keep your stake small and only bet what you can afford to lose.
