Boston has won 10 games in a row heading into Wednesday night’s finale at Fenway Park, and Baltimore is the team that’s been feeding the streak.
Quick take:
- Pick: Red Sox moneyline
- Why: Boston’s rolling with a healthier rotation and the game’s best form, while Baltimore is banged up behind the plate and needs its shaky rotation to somehow slow the hottest offense in the sport
- The number to watch: Red Sox 1.88 ERA over their last 10 games
The Orioles (49-52) and Red Sox (51-48) wrap up this series at 7:10 p.m. ET, with Boston sitting third in the AL East and Baltimore fourth, 9.0 games back. Boston has already won this series and taken four of the first seven meetings between these two AL East rivals this season, and after Monday’s wild 6-5 win, the Red Sox have every reason to feel like they own this matchup right now.
Baltimore actually played its part in that Monday game, battling to the final out before the bullpen let it slip. That’s been the story for the Orioles lately — competitive, occasionally sharp, but consistently a notch below whatever Boston’s doing on a given night.
Why Boston’s the Chalk Nobody’s Fading
Boston opened as a substantial home favorite, and the number hasn’t moved much since — the market simply doesn’t see much reason to bet against a team riding a 10-0 stretch with a 1.88 ERA over that span. Baltimore’s price reflects a team still live enough to cash a moneyline bet on any given night, but not one the books expect to win outright. The total sits in the 8-9 run range, which tracks with a Boston pitching staff that’s been stingy of late squaring off with an Orioles lineup that can still find runs in bunches.
Bettors weighing this one can check the full live MLB odds board to see how the number’s moved since the series opened, since lines like this tend to shift as more money comes in on a streaking favorite.

Kyle Bradish Has to Be Better Than the Record Says
Baltimore hands the ball to Kyle Bradish, who’s 6-9 with a 3.61 ERA but leads the staff with 106 strikeouts — the stuff has been there even when the results haven’t. He’ll need his best version of it against a Red Sox lineup that’s hit .247 as a team over the last 10 games. Boston’s response pitcher was unconfirmed as of this writing, but it won’t matter much if the Red Sox keep hitting the way they have been.
Offensively, this is largely a Pete Alonso and Willson Contreras story. Alonso leads Baltimore with 21 home runs and 66 RBI, while Contreras has been every bit his equal for Boston — 22 homers, 66 RBI, and a .292 average that’s a full 40 points higher than Alonso’s .251. Boston’s lineup also has more speed and situational hitting depth around its middle-of-the-order thump, which shows up in a team ERA that ranks fifth in baseball at 3.59 against Baltimore’s 17th-ranked 4.25.
The Red Sox have outscored opponents by 34 runs during their current 10-game winning streak.
That kind of run differential over a stretch this long isn’t a hot week — it’s a team playing complete baseball on both sides of the ball. Baltimore, by contrast, is 7-3 over its own last 10, which sounds solid in isolation but has come with a smaller margin (plus-14 runs) and now arrives without its starting catcher.
Adley Rutschman is on the 10-day injured list with left wrist inflammation, and his primary backup, Samuel Basallo, has been in and out of the lineup with shoulder discomfort of his own. That’s a rough spot for a team trying to slow down a red-hot lineup — losing catching depth right as pitch-calling and game-managing matter most. Baltimore is also without closer Ryan Helsley (elbow) and starter Chris Bassitt (back), both key pieces of a pitching staff that can’t afford more attrition right now.
Boston isn’t exactly whole either. Roman Anthony, Garrett Crochet, Trevor Story, and three other pitchers remain on the 60-day injured list, and the Red Sox have simply outplayed their health report anyway. Ranger Suarez is working his way back from a groin strain and could factor into the rotation again soon, which only deepens a pitching staff that’s already been the best version of itself for the better part of two weeks.
Baltimore’s lineup still has thump. Taylor Ward has quietly been Baltimore’s most consistent hitter all year, and left fielder duties have kept him in the middle of just about every rally the Orioles have strung together this season. He won’t get much national attention playing for a fourth-place team, but he’s been steady in a lineup that badly needs steadiness right now.
Prediction and Best Bet
Boston’s won 10 straight games for a reason, and nothing about Baltimore’s injury situation or recent offensive output suggests Wednesday is the night that changes. The Orioles have shown fight all series, but fight alone hasn’t been enough against this version of the Red Sox.
The pick:
- Prediction: Red Sox 6, Orioles 3
- Best Bet: Red Sox on the moneyline
Boston’s depth and recent form make this closer to a coin-flip-proof favorite than the moneyline price suggests, and riding the streak one more night is the play.
