Holmes vs. Lugo Is a Mismatch on Paper
Clay Holmes takes the ball for Chicago at 4-4 with a sparkling 2.39 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP, striking out batters at a 7.69 K/9 clip. Seth Lugo, the Royals’ No. 67 and their nominal ace, has scuffled to a 4-7 record with a 4.41 ERA and a bloated 1.39 WHIP this year — a rough follow-up to the two-year, $46 million extension he signed last summer.
