Best MLB DFS Picks Today: Top Value Plays for July 11

Today's top MLB DFS value plays for cash games and GPPs, from a red-hot rookie slugger to two elite strikeout arms anchoring the slate.
Riley Greene in action for the Detroit Tigers

Saturday’s MLB slate is loaded, with a 15-game main card on DraftKings and a full afternoon-into-evening rotation that gives DFS players plenty of ways to build a roster. There’s a heavyweight pitching duel in Detroit, a red-hot NL outfielder trying to stay on his tear in Washington, and a rookie sensation in Oakland still chasing his second straight big power month. It’s the kind of slate where the right combination of studs and mid-tier bats can separate you from the field.

Today we’re targeting a mix of premium arms with clean matchups, a breakout power bat that’s still underpriced relative to his production, and a couple of hot hitters worth rostering even against tougher pitching. Here are five MLB DFS picks worth building around for today’s cash games and GPP lineups.

Joe Ryan, SP — Minnesota Twins (vs. Los Angeles Angels)

Joe Ryan has quietly turned into one of the best strikeout arms in the American League this season, sitting at 6-5 with a 2.85 ERA and 122 strikeouts over 104.1 innings, a strikeout total that ranks fourth in the AL. His command has been outstanding too, with a 1.04 WHIP that places him fifth in the league in ERA among qualified starters.

The recent stretch is even more impressive. Over his last 15 starts, Ryan has racked up 100 strikeouts in 83 innings with a 2.60 ERA, and over his last seven outings he’s punched out 52 hitters in just 40 innings with a 2.70 ERA. That’s ace-level DFS production regardless of matchup.

The matchup only sweetens the pot. Ryan draws the Los Angeles Angels at home at Target Field, and the Angels lineup, projected to start Ryan Johnson, is one of the softer offensive groups on the slate — Mike Trout is the only real thump, while the rest of the order (Zach Neto, Nolan Schanuel, Jorge Soler, Jo Adell) has posted modest averages and OPS marks in the .300s all year. Ryan has carried a premium DraftKings price tag befitting his production in recent slates, but with a favorable matchup on the mound and a lineup around him that should support run support, he’s a strong anchor if you’re willing to pay up for pitching today. If you’re tracking live MLB odds before locking your roster, Minnesota has been trending as a solid favorite in this spot.

Nick Kurtz, 1B — Athletics (vs. Chicago White Sox)

Nick Kurtz has been one of the best breakout stories in baseball, following his unanimous AL Rookie of the Year campaign with an even more impressive follow-up. He’s hitting .271 with 20 home runs, 66 RBI and a .915 OPS, and his 61 runs scored rank second in the entire American League.

The power has stayed steady even as his batting average has cooled slightly of late — over his last 30 games he’s still gone deep nine times with 23 RBI and a .500 slugging percentage, even though his last-seven-game average sits at just .179. That’s the profile of a slugger who can go quiet for a week and then erupt for a multi-homer game at any moment, and his 457-foot blast earlier this season is a reminder of just how much raw power he carries to all fields.

Today’s matchup at Rate Field pits Kurtz against Chicago White Sox right-hander Erick Fedde, who enters with a 4-6 record. Kurtz has recently carried a DraftKings price near $5,100, which is a bargain for a hitter with legitimate 30-homer, elite-runs-scored upside on a team that’s given him plenty of opportunities near the top of the lineup.

Cam Schlittler, SP — New York Yankees (at Washington Nationals)

If you want to pay up at pitcher today, Cam Schlittler gives you as safe a floor as anyone on the board. The Yankees right-hander is 9-5 with a sparkling 2.01 ERA and 131 strikeouts this season, numbers that put him firmly in the AL Cy Young conversation and make him one of the most consistent strikeout-and-innings arms in the sport.

Schlittler heads to Nationals Park to face a Washington lineup that starts Miles Mikolas on the other side, and while the Nationals do have thump in the middle of their order, Schlittler’s ability to miss bats and limit hard contact makes him a strong bet to rack up strikeout points regardless of who he’s facing. He’s carried a price tag north of $10,000 on both major sites in recent slates, reflecting the fact that DFS players know exactly what they’re getting with him.

The wrinkle here is that Schlittler is on the mound against James Wood (more on him below), so this game doubles as one of the more interesting pitcher-versus-hitter chess matches on the slate. If you’re rostering Schlittler for his strikeout upside, you’re implicitly fading Washington’s best bat. Bettors watching the game total might also check MLB odds before first pitch, since that number tends to move as lineups get confirmed.

James Wood, OF — Washington Nationals (vs. New York Yankees)

James Wood has been nothing short of sensational lately, and his overall 2026 line reflects it: a .269 average with 25 home runs (third in the NL), 61 RBI, 15 stolen bases and a .948 OPS that ranks second in the National League. He’s a five-tool talent who’s turned into one of the most feared bats in Washington’s lineup.

The last week has been even better. Over his last seven games, Wood is hitting .364 with a video-game 1.045 OPS, four home runs and nine RBI, showing zero signs of slowing down as the calendar flips toward the trade deadline and All-Star break conversations swirl around him.

The catch is the matchup: Wood draws Cam Schlittler and his 2.01 ERA today at Nationals Park, which is about as tough a assignment as you’ll find on the mound. That said, Wood’s recent form is loud enough that fading him outright feels risky in a vacuum, especially in tournament lineups where a random one-swing eruption changes everything. Think of him as a alternative, contrarian GPP piece rather than a cash-game lock today given the pitcher he’s facing.

Riley Greene, OF — Detroit Tigers (vs. Philadelphia Phillies)

Riley Greene has quietly put together a career-year at the plate, hitting .289 with 13 home runs, 44 RBI and an .844 OPS through his first 329 at-bats. He’s also been one of the hottest bats in baseball over the past two weeks, going deep four times over his last seven games with a robust .793 slugging percentage in that stretch, including a 3-for-4 day with a homer and four RBI against Texas on July 5.

Today’s matchup is the toughest of our five picks on paper: Greene faces Phillies left-hander Cristopher Sánchez, who is 10-4 with a sharp 2.62 ERA and 137 strikeouts, and the left-on-left matchup works against Greene’s typical platoon advantage. Still, his raw power output over the last month has been strong enough that he’s worth including in lineups looking for cheap thump, especially with Comerica Park’s dimensions playing fair to hitters who drive the ball to the gaps. Greene has carried a DraftKings price around $4,100 in recent slates, making him one of the cheaper ways to roster a hitter with legitimate 20-plus homer upside the rest of the way. Fans looking to bet on the game can find Michigan sports betting options and current lines before first pitch.

Building Your Lineup

If you’re building around Joe Ryan today, consider pairing him with a mini-stack from the Twins lineup against the Angels’ Ryan Johnson, since that’s one of the more lopsided pitching matchups on the entire board. On the hitting side, Nick Kurtz and the top of Oakland’s order against Fedde offer a cheap way to attack a struggling White Sox rotation without breaking your salary cap.

The Yankees-Nationals game presents a genuine strategic fork: paying up for Schlittler means fading Wood’s red-hot bat, while rostering Wood means you’re comfortable eating strikeouts against one of the league’s best young arms. Neither approach is wrong, but be intentional about which side of that game you’re building around rather than trying to roster both. Greene, meanwhile, is a name plenty of casual players will fade today given the tough lefty matchup, which could make him a lower-owned GPP dart throw if his power keeps carrying over from the last two weeks. Balance one or two premium plays with value at other positions, and don’t be afraid to pivot off the most popular chalk if the matchup gives you pause. For those who like to pair their DFS action with a wager, a DraftKings promo code or FanDuel promo code can be a nice way to get extra value on today’s slate.
