With a championship on the line, Wednesday night is a rare day on the baseball calendar: one game, one stage, and a lot of eyes. The Milwaukee Brewers lead the World Series 3-1 and visit the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field for Game 5 (8:00 PM ET, FOX), with a chance to clinch the first title in franchise history.
If you are new to same-game parlays, this one is a good place to learn. We are building a simple three-leg ticket: Brewers moneyline, Under 6.5 total runs, and Jonathan Aranda under 0.5 hits. Priced individually at FanDuel and DraftKings, the legs stack up to roughly +700 as a parlay, though your sportsbook’s final number will differ because books adjust same-game parlays for correlation.
Leg 1: Brewers Moneyline (-148)
A moneyline bet is the simplest wager in sports: pick the winner. Milwaukee is a -148 favorite at FanDuel, which means you would risk $148 to win $100. That price reflects what the Brewers bring to the mound: Jacob Misiorowski, who went 16-5 with a league-best 1.80 ERA and 0.80 WHIP and struck out 252 batters in 174.2 innings.
Misiorowski has also been steady in October. He is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA over 13.1 postseason innings, and Milwaukee has won all three of his playoff starts. In Game 1 of this series he went five innings and allowed one run in a 3-2 win. Tampa Bay, meanwhile, has not named a Game 5 starter. Nick Martinez threw 33 pitches of relief in Game 4, and a bullpen game or Drew Rasmussen on short rest looks possible.
For beginners, the takeaway is that a favorite with a clear pitching edge is a sturdy foundation for a parlay. If you want to see how prices like -148 convert to payouts, our betting calculator does the math for you.
Leg 2: Under 6.5 Total Runs (-106)
A total is a bet on how many runs both teams score combined, not on who wins. FanDuel has Game 5 at 6.5 runs, with the Under at -106 and the Over at -114. The number is low for a reason. Misiorowski is the best run-prevention arm in the sport, and the Rays are likely to lean on a patchwork pitching plan that tends to shorten games for the starters on both sides.
Notice how this leg works with the first one. If Misiorowski dominates, Milwaukee is more likely to win and the game is more likely to stay low-scoring. That overlap is called correlation, and it is why sportsbooks do not simply multiply the two prices together in a same-game parlay. The caution here is that Tampa Bay has allowed three or more runs in five straight playoff games, and the Under has split 2-2 in this series, so this is a lean, not a lock.
Leg 3: Jonathan Aranda Under 0.5 Hits (about +150)
Player props can feel intimidating, but this one is simple. A line of 0.5 hits means Aranda either gets a hit (Over) or does not (Under). The Rays first baseman is part of Tampa Bay’s top trio of hitters, which makes him a natural target for the Brewers’ best pitching. Posted Under prices have ranged from about +140 to +163 across sportsbooks, which is plus-money because most hitters in most games get a hit less often than you would think.
Aranda’s projected hit total for this game sits below one, and Misiorowski has held opposing hitters in check all year. Taking the Under on a good hitter against a great pitcher also fits the story of the first two legs: it is the same Brewers-pitching-wins-the-night scenario, expressed through a different bet. Prices on props move through the afternoon, so check your sportsbook before you lock anything in. For live lines across the sport, see our live MLB odds page.
The Full Parlay
Put it together and the ticket reads: Brewers moneyline (-148), Under 6.5 total runs (-106), and Aranda under 0.5 hits (about +150). Multiplying the individual prices gives a rough combined number near +700, meaning a $10 stake would return about $70 in profit if all three legs hit. Because every leg tells the same story, with Misiorowski controlling the game, a sportsbook’s same-game parlay price will likely come in shorter than that.
The risk with any parlay is that one miss sinks the whole ticket. A single Rays rally, a late bullpen collapse, or an Aranda single is enough to lose, so keep the stake small and treat it as entertainment. New to the format? Our responsible gambling page has tools and tips for staying in control.
