The Milwaukee Brewers lead the Tampa Bay Rays 3-0 in the World Series, and Game 4 on Tuesday night at Tropicana Field (8:00 PM ET, FOX) is their first chance to finish the sweep. If you have never built a same game parlay before, this is a great game to learn on, because the storylines are easy to follow and the legs fit together naturally.
Our Game 4 same game parlay has three legs: Brewers moneyline, Over 7 total runs, and William Contreras Over 1.5 hits plus runs plus RBIs. Based on the lines below, the three legs multiply out to roughly +550 before any sportsbook adjustment.
What Is a Same Game Parlay, and Why Do the Legs Connect?
A same game parlay (SGP) lets you stack several bets from one game into a single ticket. Every leg has to win for the parlay to cash, which is why the payout is bigger than any single bet. The twist for beginners is that the legs in an SGP are not independent. If the Brewers score a bunch of runs, that helps the Brewers moneyline, helps the Over, and helps a Brewers hitter pile up stats. That is called correlation, and it is why sportsbooks price SGPs a little differently than a normal parlay. If you want to see how the math works on your own tickets, try the betting calculator.
Leg 1: Brewers Moneyline (-139)
A moneyline bet is simply picking who wins. BetMGM has Milwaukee at -139 and Tampa Bay at +115, while DraftKings is a little tighter at Brewers -131 and Rays +109. At -139, you risk $139 to win $100.
The Brewers are 103-59 this season, 9-1 in the postseason and have won seven straight. They won Game 3 by a 10-1 score, scoring all eight of their runs in the fifth inning with two outs, a World Series record. The Rays have scored only seven runs total in their three losses.
The wrinkle is that Milwaukee is expected to use a bullpen game, with Shane Drohan, Dustin May and Kyle Harrison among the names mentioned. That sounds risky, but the Brewers bullpen has allowed just two runs over 13 innings in this series, and their key relievers were rested during the Game 3 blowout.
Leg 2: Over 7 Total Runs
The total is the combined runs both teams score. The number is 7 at most books, and it is not a bad one for the Over. DraftKings lists the Over at -109, while BetMGM has Over 7 at -120 and FanDuel has the total at 7.5, so shop around before you lock it in.
This leg pairs well with the moneyline because a Brewers win built on offense pushes the total up. Milwaukee has gone Over in five of its last six games. Rays starter Griffin Jax (8-10, 3.53 ERA, 116 strikeouts in 112.1 innings) has been solid, but Milwaukee has gotten to him before: he gave up five runs without recording an out in a relief appearance against the Brewers earlier this season. Tampa Bay also has its back against the wall, so expect the Rays to lean on their bullpen, and neither side’s relievers are guaranteed to hold up for nine innings.
Leg 3: William Contreras Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-102)
Hits plus runs plus RBIs, often shortened to HRR, adds three stats into one prop. Contreras (#24, catcher) only needs two combined, which could be as simple as one hit and one run scored.
Contreras is 18-for-43 (.419) with three home runs and a double in 11 postseason games, plus eight RBIs and six runs. He has cleared 1.5 HRR in four straight games and in seven of his last nine. He also went 3-for-5 in Game 3 and is 2-for-3 in his career against Jax. He hits right behind Christian Yelich in the lineup, so a big Brewers night is likely to run right through him. That is the correlation at work: the more Milwaukee scores, the more likely this prop cashes too.
The Full Parlay
Put it together and you have Brewers moneyline (-139), Over 7 runs (-109) and Contreras Over 1.5 HRR (-102). Multiplying the three prices gives an estimated payout near +550, so a $10 bet would return about $65 total. Sportsbooks adjust SGP prices for correlation, so the number on your slip may be a bit lower. Always check your book before betting.
The case for the ticket is simple: Milwaukee has been the better team all series, the lineup is hot, and a Brewers win with a few runs on the board checks all three boxes. The risk is a low-scoring game, or a bullpen game that shuts Tampa Bay down while the Brewers win 3-1. Since one miss sinks the whole ticket, keep the stake small and bet only what you can afford to lose.
