3 QB Passing Props to Back for Jaguars vs Ravens on TNF

Thursday Night Football in Baltimore looks very different than anyone expected a month ago. The Jacksonville Jaguars (5-2) visit M&T Bank Stadium on Prime Video at 8:15 PM ET as roughly 9.5-point favorites against a Ravens team (4-4) that has dropped three straight and is down to its third-string quarterback. The total is hovering between 40.5 and 42.5, which tells you the market expects Baltimore to struggle to score.

That makes this a quarterback-props game. Lamar Jackson (thumb) is headed to injured reserve and Tyler Huntley (toe) is reportedly done for the season, so undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano gets his first NFL start. On the other side, Trevor Lawrence is playing some of the best football of his career. Here are three passing props worth a look, with the reasoning behind each so you can decide for yourself.

Trevor Lawrence Over 238.5 Passing Yards

Lawrence is averaging 241.4 passing yards per game this season, and the lines this week sit right around that number. DraftKings has the over at 238.5 at -112, while other books list it between 235.5 and 239.5 and Underdog is higher at 249.5. He has gone for 306 and 331 yards in two of his last five starts, and the Jaguars passing game is built on big plays: roughly one in three of their dropbacks produces an explosive gain, which is how a quarterback piles up yards in chunks without needing a ton of attempts.

The matchup is where the value sits. Baltimore is allowing 228.3 passing yards per game and has struggled to prevent 10-plus-yard completions. The Ravens’ offense, meanwhile, is unlikely to keep pace, so Lawrence should have chances to keep the throws coming.

The risk is real and worth naming. Last Sunday the Jaguars crushed the Colts 42-7, and Lawrence only threw 14 passes, finishing 10 of 14 for 210 yards and three touchdowns. If Jacksonville builds a big lead early again, the game plan could turn run-heavy and cap his attempts. A 9.5-point spread suggests a similar script is possible, so shop for the lowest number you can find before locking this one in.

Trevor Lawrence Over 1.5 Passing Touchdowns

Lawrence has thrown 17 touchdowns through seven games, with at least three scoring passes in three different games, including last week’s three-touchdown day against Indianapolis. Books are pricing the over at 1.5 around -127 to -133, so you are paying a premium, but the logic is strong. The Jaguars rank fifth in the NFL at 28.0 points per game, and Baltimore is allowing 25.4 per game.

Because the Ravens are so limited at quarterback, Jacksonville may also get short fields after turnovers, which turns drives into quick scoring chances through the air. Fagnano threw an interception and took three sacks in his debut, and every mistake like that hands Lawrence a better starting position.

The blowout caveat applies here too, but it matters less than it does for yardage. Touchdown passes are more about red-zone efficiency than total volume, and two scoring throws before the game turns into a late-game run clock is a reasonable bar to clear. Lawrence got three on just 14 attempts last week.

Joe Fagnano Under 161.5 Passing Yards

This is the other side of the same story. Fagnano has exactly one NFL appearance to his name, and it did not go well. He came in for the injured Jackson and Huntley against Buffalo and finished 10 of 21 for 91 yards and an interception while taking three sacks. He is also dealing with a right ankle injury; he was a full participant at Tuesday’s practice with the ankle heavily taped, but mobility matters for a quarterback facing pressure.

Lines range from 155.5 to 166.5 depending on the book, with DraftKings offering the under at -112 on a 160.5 number, so the higher you can find the number, the better the under looks. Baltimore has been one of the league’s least efficient offenses without Jackson, and Jacksonville’s defense takes away the easiest path to points: the Jaguars allow a league-best 77.4 rushing yards per game. That removes the run game as a way to move the ball and forces the Ravens into obvious passing situations.

Here is the nuance. Jacksonville is much weaker against the pass, allowing 253.9 yards per game through the air (29th in the NFL), and safety Eric Murray and defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton are both out for the season. If Baltimore falls behind quickly and has to throw, Fagnano could pile up volume. But he is a rookie with little preparation time on a short week, and a trailing script often means incompletions, sacks and punts rather than clean yardage. The under is still the better side.

The Card for Thursday Night

All three plays come from one idea: Jacksonville has the better quarterback, the better offense and the better matchup, while Baltimore is relying on an undrafted rookie against a defense that takes away its easiest path to points. Lines can move before kickoff, especially with injury news this week, so compare numbers across books. • Trevor Lawrence OVER 238.5 passing yards (-112 at DraftKings)
  • Trevor Lawrence OVER 1.5 passing touchdowns (around -127 to -133)
  • Joe Fagnano UNDER 161.5 passing yards (DraftKings has the under at -112 on 160.5)

Lawrence has the weapons and the matchup, and Fagnano has neither the experience nor the help. Bet responsibly and only what you can afford to lose.
