3 MLB Strikeout Props to Back on Monday: Yamamoto, Henderson, Rasmussen Headline NLCS and ALCS Game 2/Game 1 Pitching Duels

The League Championship Series round is in full swing, and Monday hands bettors three of the best strikeout matchups of the entire postseason. Both best-of-seven series open their second games today — Dodgers at Brewers for NLCS Game 2, and Guardians at Rays kicking off ALCS Game 1 — and all three starters getting the ball have been nothing short of dominant on the biggest stage.

When the stakes go up, so does the swing-and-miss. These three arms have been missing bats at an elite clip this October, and the strikeout props on the board look beatable if you know where to look. Here’s the breakdown on all three, and why the Over feels like the right side across the board.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto Ks Over 6.5 (NLCS Game 2)

Yoshinobu Yamamoto has been nothing short of must-watch in October. The Dodgers’ Game 2 starter carries a microscopic 1.29 ERA through the postseason and is coming off a start where he punched out 10 batters, a number that alone would’ve cleared Monday’s total of 6.5 with room to spare. His strikeout rate sits at an outstanding 8.8 K/9 for the playoffs, and that swing-and-miss stuff travels against this specific Brewers lineup.

Milwaukee’s hitters have struck out at a 21.5% clip this season, a number that plays right into Yamamoto’s hands. He’s facing a lineup that chases and misses more than most, and he’s doing it with a fastball-splitter combination that’s been nearly impossible to square up all postseason. Books have priced the Over at -122 to -130, which tells you the market already respects this trend — but even at that price, the recent form and matchup both point the same direction.

Milwaukee won Game 1, 2-1, in a tight, low-scoring affair, and that kind of game script — close, grind-it-out at-bats — tends to produce deep counts and more strikeout opportunities for a starter who’s missing bats at this rate. Expect Yamamoto to go deep into this one and keep piling up the punchouts.

Logan Henderson Ks Over 5.5 (NLCS Game 2)

Logan Henderson doesn’t get the same national attention as Yamamoto, but the Brewers’ righty has quietly been one of the more effective strikeout arms in baseball over his final stretch of the season. Over his last five starts, Henderson posted a sparkling 1.80 ERA, and across 18 appearances this year he’s averaged 6.1 strikeouts per game — exactly the kind of workload that clears Monday’s line of 5.5.

The matchup context matters here too. Henderson has punched out the current Dodgers roster at a 27% clip across his career meetings with these hitters, a rate that’s well above league average and suggests this isn’t a one-off hot streak — he’s had genuine success missing bats against this specific lineup before. The Dodgers’ order is loaded with thump, but strikeouts and power often go hand in hand, and a lineup built around hard contact can also be a lineup that chases.

With the Over priced at -122, the number reflects real respect for Henderson’s stuff, but his per-game average alone clears the total more often than not, and the head-to-head history with this exact Dodgers core adds another layer of confidence. This profiles as one of the sturdier strikeout plays on the entire slate.

Drew Rasmussen Ks Over 5.5 (ALCS Game 1)

If there’s one pitcher on this board who looks nearly unhittable right now, it’s Drew Rasmussen. The Rays’ ALCS Game 1 starter has been perfect this postseason in the truest sense — a 0.00 ERA — and he’s coming off a start that included a near no-hit bid, the kind of outing that tells you his stuff is playing at an entirely different level right now.

Rasmussen’s strikeout numbers back up the eye test. He’s sitting at 9.1 K/9 this season, the best raw swing-and-miss rate of any pitcher on this slate, and he’s already shown he can rack up strikeouts in bunches — he posted 10 strikeouts in his most recent outing before this one. Against the current Guardians roster, he’s punched out opposing hitters at a 23.1% clip across his career, a healthy number that suggests this matchup plays to his strengths rather than against them.

The odds here are worth a second look before you place anything. DraftKings has the Over priced at -128, but FanDuel has the Under at +106 — a notable gap between books on the same total. That kind of split is exactly why sportsbook reviews and shopping lines before you bet matter; locking in -128 at DraftKings is a very different proposition than getting stuck with a worse number elsewhere. Given the 0.00 ERA, the 9.1 K/9, and the near no-hitter in his last trip to the mound, the Over at the better number is the side to target.

Today’s Edge

All three of Monday’s Game 2/Game 1 starters are locked in at exactly the right time, and the matchups line up favorably across the board — a high-strikeout Brewers lineup against Yamamoto, a strong head-to-head history for Henderson, and a Guardians order that’s run into a pitcher who hasn’t allowed a run all October in Rasmussen. Shop your numbers before locking anything in, especially on the Rasmussen line where the gap between books is real money left on the table.

  • Yoshinobu Yamamoto OVER 6.5 Ks (-122 to -130)
  • Logan Henderson OVER 5.5 Ks (-122)
  • Drew Rasmussen OVER 5.5 Ks (-128 DraftKings)

Three dominant arms, three favorable matchups, and three strikeout totals that look light given the form each pitcher is carrying into these elimination-adjacent games.
